The registry lists her at 164,998 gross tons, 325.9 metres long and 41.4 metres wide, spread over 20 decks of which 16 are open to guests. Meyer Werft delivered her on 22 October 2015 as the first Breakaway Plus-class ship, a full step up from Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway at 145,655 tons. Her three younger sisters each edge past her in tonnage, which makes her the smallest of the four despite her bulk. She carries 2,114 staterooms and 1,733 crew.
Two incidents are on the record and deserve a straight answer. Just before midnight on 3 March 2019, a gust estimated at 100 knots heeled the ship to port while she ran from New York toward Port Canaveral: furniture toppled, windows broke, eight guests were taken to hospital on arrival and released, and several crew were treated aboard. On 14 March 2022 she grounded while leaving Puerto Plata, in the Dominican Republic; the NTSB close-out memo dated 14 March 2023 puts hull damage at roughly two million US dollars with no injuries, and the Coast Guard concluded no further investigation was warranted. Both files are closed and the hull was repaired ahead of the autumn 2022 drydock.
She lacks the two signatures that made her younger sisters famous: the rooftop go-kart track and the big forward Observation Lounge. In exchange she carries the largest ropes course in the class on deck 20, the three-deck 678 Ocean Place entertainment complex, and above all 95 Haven suites, more than the 80 aboard Bliss and Encore. She is also the only one of the four that lives on the Atlantic side, between Miami, New York, Port Canaveral and the Mediterranean. Her Cuban-inspired Bayamo by Ocean Blue exists on no other ship in the class.
She spent the spring in New Orleans from 12 April to 10 May, then the summer in Miami on seven-night loops to Cozumel, Costa Maya, Roatán and Harvest Caye through 9 August 2026. She then shifted to New York for Canada and New England, calling at Boston, Portland, Saint John and Halifax; her very first Boston call came on 28 August 2026, a first for the class. On 26 September 2026 she leaves New York for Barcelona over 16 nights via Sydney in Nova Scotia, Ponta Delgada and Gibraltar, enters drydock in Europe, then sails from Barcelona on 28 October for Port Canaveral over another 16 nights. From Montréal, New York is a 90-minute flight or a six-hour drive, which makes it the most convenient embarkation port in the entire Norwegian fleet this autumn.
Winter runs from Port Canaveral on five- to nine-night sailings to the Bahamas and Eastern Caribbean, including Great Stirrup Cay. From April to October 2027 she moves down to Miami for three- to five-day getaways to the Bahamas and Caribbean, with Great Stirrup Cay and Harvest Caye. From November 2027 through April 2028 she relocates to Galveston, Texas, for seven-night Western Caribbean weeks departing every Saturday to Cozumel, Roatán and Harvest Caye. Three homeports, three different air tickets: Miami is nonstop from Montréal in about 3 h 30 on Air Canada, Air Transat or American; Port Canaveral means a nonstop to Orlando plus 75 kilometres of road; Galveston means a nonstop to Houston Intercontinental in about 4 h 30 plus 110 kilometres, a good hour and fifteen minutes to the terminal.
A BA or BB balcony midship is the sensible choice on Caribbean itineraries, at roughly 16 square metres including the balcony. The Haven holds 95 suites: the core of the enclave sits on decks 17 and 18 with a retractable-roof courtyard, a pool, a private restaurant, the Haven Lounge and a reserved sundeck, while the 14 H8 and H9 spa suites sit on deck 16 beside the Mandara and the penthouses on decks 9 through 15 carry every privilege without being inside the gate. Solo travellers get 82 studios of about 9 square metres on decks 10, 11 and 12, with keycard access to the deck 11 Studio Lounge where coffee and snacks are complimentary. Families should look at the Family Villas and the family oceanview cabins that sleep up to five.
Included dining is at Savor, Taste, the Manhattan Room, the Garden Café, 24-hour O'Sheehan's and the American Diner. Specialty venues carrying a charge: Cagney's Steakhouse, Le Bistro, La Cucina, Teppanyaki, Food Republic, Bayamo by Ocean Blue, Moderno Churrascaria and the Pincho Tapas Bar. For bars there is The District Brew House and its craft taps, the Mondavi-branded Cellars Wine Bar, the Sugarcane Mojito Bar, the Skyline Bar, Tobacco Road, Prime Meridian and Syd Norman's Pour House with its rock sets. The missing go-karts and missing Observation Lounge catch out guests who read about Bliss or Encore and assumed the whole class shares them. The density shows: more than 4,200 guests at double occupancy, queues at the Garden Café when excursions return, and a saturated pool deck on sea days. The hull is eleven years old with only one genuine refit behind it, at Brest in autumn 2022, which explains the steady comments about furniture and bathrooms; the next drydock only comes in October 2026, so anyone sailing before that date is on a ship awaiting renovation. Add that the Great Stirrup Cay pier closed on 1 April 2026 to be doubled in size, with a temporary return to tender boats while the work runs.

They are not. Norwegian posts a daily per-person service charge automatically to your onboard account, at a higher rate if you stay in one of the 95 Haven suites or in a regular suite. It applies from age three, so the whole family counts, and it can be prepaid before departure. Service charges also apply to every drink at The District Brew House or Sugarcane and to every meal at Cagney's or Bayamo. Over a Galveston week or a three-night Miami getaway alike, this line adds up quickly and deserves to be priced before you book.
It is not. "Free at Sea" is a promotion, not an all-inclusive fare: the complimentary open bar carries a mandatory daily service charge for every guest 21 and over, meaning two people sharing a BA balcony on deck 12 each pay it, every day of the sailing. Only the first two guests in the stateroom qualify; third and fourth occupants get no equivalent. The upper tier, Free at Sea Plus, adds Starbucks drinks, bottled waters and an open bar at Great Stirrup Cay, and absorbs the package service charge. Premium pours and room service stay billed separately.
Yes, over Starlink satellite, and the difference from the old service is dramatic. The base promotion normally includes 150 minutes per stateroom, enough for email and photos but not for streaming; only the Free at Sea Plus tier gives uncapped streaming access. On the September and October 2026 transatlantic crossings to Barcelona, expect weaker patches mid-ocean and off the Azores. Warn family before you sail rather than counting on a stable connection every evening.
Yes, and her short Miami sailings in 2027 make her an excellent first ship for testing the format with young children. Splash Academy covers ages 3 to 12, Entourage ages 13 to 17, and Guppies offers parent-supervised play from 6 months to 3 years. The deck 20 ropes course, the Free Fall and Aqua Racer slides, the toddler splash park and mini-golf are all included in the cruise fare, which is not a given on a Norwegian ship. Be aware that the arcade, evening childcare and specialty restaurants are billed separately, and that there are no go-karts here to occupy a teenager.

The programme now runs seven tiers from Bronze to Ambassador, with Silver at 20 points and Gold at 45, so a Galveston week in a suite moves the count along quickly. The tangible perks start at Gold and Platinum with priority embarkation, a laundry bag and earlier specialty dining reservations. On a ship carrying more than 4,200 guests, priority embarkation at Miami's terminal on a Saturday afternoon is worth the effort on its own.

Two windows call for more care: hurricane season from mid-August to late October, and the transatlantic crossings, which run into bigger seas. The March 2019 heeling was an extreme, isolated weather event rather than a design flaw, and the ship left without damage. A midship cabin on a lower deck and tablets bought before departure settle the matter in almost every case.
