Panama City
Panama city is the capital of the Republic of Panama. It is the most populous city in the country. It is located at the entrance to the Panama Canal on the Pacific coast.
History
Panama la Vieja or old Panama was founded in August 1519. It was the conquistador Pedro Arias Davila who was at the origin of its creation. The fishing village quickly became a transit point for silver and gold bound for Spain. The latter land in Callao and are transported in large numbers to finally be loaded onto the boats coming from Cartagena.
In 1521 the city of Panama obtained the title of royal city as well as a coat of arms. An earthquake shakes it in 1621 and destroys it. The city was also useful for the exploration and conquest of Peru.

Business district
It is an impressive district characterized by its beautiful and tall buildings as well as the buildings of banks and restaurants. You will feel like you are in the city of Shanghai.
El Mercado de Mariscos
This is the fish and shellfish market. It is a 10-minute walk from the Casco Viejo area. It is a small market where you will find many fishermen who market their catch there. The place is still noisy and the smell of fishing is very strong, however it is an authentic area.
Amador
This is a famous neighborhood for offering magnificent panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the Panama City skyline. There you will find a group of small islands: Isla Perico, Isla Naos and Isla Flamenco. The area is very clean and has several shops and marinas. Also take a trip to the centro Natural Punta Culebra to discover its beach and mangroves.
