Description
The trip begins in Hanoi, among lakes, colonial avenues and an Old Quarter where each street is named after a trade. Ninh Binh unfolds its limestone peaks above the rice fields, and Ha Long Bay is discovered from a junk, with a night on board and squid fishing as the day ends.
A flight then leads to Hue, the former imperial capital, its citadel and the Perfume River. The mandarin road crosses the Hai Van Pass to the Golden Bridge, held up by two stone hands, then stops three nights in Hoi An, where lanterns light up along the port. In the south, Ho Chi Minh City keeps its Gustave Eiffel post office, and the Mekong Delta is explored by boat among the orchards.
Cambodia opens in Phnom Penh, between the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda and the Tuol Sleng memorial, which tells a still recent history. A stilt village precedes Siem Reap and the temples of Angkor, from the smiling faces of the Bayon to Angkor Wat.
