Three ways to pay less for the same trip
- Shift the departure by a day or two. A Tuesday often costs less than a Saturday, for the same hotel and the same room.
- Book early for peak periods, late for quiet ones. Spring break and the holidays are not shopped like a late-January departure.
- Compare the total price, taxes, bags and transfers included. Two packages posted at the same amount do not always contain the same things.
What a deal does not tell you
A very low fare sometimes hides ongoing renovations, a room with no view above the bar, or a flight landing at two in the morning.
