Universal Orlando Resort changed size in May 2025. The opening of Universal Epic Universe took the destination from three parks to four, and the question Quebec families ask us changed with it. It is no longer “should we add a day at Universal”, it is “should we spend the whole trip there”.

Universal or Disney for a first trip

The answer almost always comes down to the ages around the table. Universal Orlando Resort is built around rides that shake you and worlds young guests recognize before they walk in: Harry Potter, Jurassic World, Super Nintendo World. A four-year-old will find things to do, but will also watch the family queue for rides he cannot board. Around eight or nine, that flips, and he is the one pulling his parents toward the next coaster.

When the group mixes small children and teenagers, the answer is not to pick one destination over the other. It is to split the days.

Doing Universal and Disney on the same trip

The two destinations are about twenty minutes apart by car, and most of our clients do both. The common mistake is alternating, one day here, one day there: the holiday gets spent on the highway. Group the Universal days together, stay on property while you do, then move once.

What Universal Epic Universe changes

The fourth park has its own entrance and its own parking. Universal Studios Florida, Universal Islands of Adventure and Universal CityWalk sit side by side and are walkable; Universal Epic Universe and Universal Volcano Bay need the shuttle or the car. A trip that fit into three days before May 2025 now takes four.

How many days, seen from Quebec

Count one full day per park, plus a spare day for rain, tired legs or the urge to ride something again. The flight from Montreal takes about three hours, which leaves half a usable day on arrival. That is often the right moment for Universal CityWalk, which needs no park ticket.

What booking from here changes

Our advisors book in Canadian dollars, with a deposit and staged payments, under the protection of Quebec’s compensation fund for travel agency customers. Voyages AquaTerra is a U-Preferred Silver partner of Universal Orlando Resort. We put the tickets, the hotel and the skip-the-line in the right order, and we tell you when Universal Express Pass already comes with the room instead of selling it to you twice.

Frequently Asked Questions

With children under eight, Disney returns more: more shows, more characters, fewer height restrictions. From eight or nine up, Universal Orlando Resort takes over, especially if Harry Potter or Jurassic World are already household references. Many Quebec families do both on the same trip.
Around eight, when height stops being an obstacle on most attractions. Before that there is still plenty — Super Nintendo World, Seuss Landing, Universal Volcano Bay — but part of the destination will be off limits, and that is the kind of detail that ruins a day when nobody planned for it. Our advisors go through the height list with you before you leave.
Yes, and it is common. The two destinations are about twenty minutes apart by car. The trap is alternating days: the trip gets spent on the highway. Group the Universal days together, stay on property while you do, then move once.
No, though the destination makes no secret of its taste for thrills. Universal Volcano Bay, Seuss Landing and Super Nintendo World will fill a full day for younger children, and Universal CityWalk needs no park ticket. The real question is not the minimum age, it is how the days are balanced.
It takes one more day. The fourth park has its own entrance and its own parking, and it is not walkable from Universal Studios Florida. A trip that fit into three days before May 2025 now takes four.
Four park days, five if you add Universal Volcano Bay without giving something else up. With the three-hour flight from Montreal, six nights leaves room to see it all without rushing.
Yes. Tickets bought ahead skip the ticket window queue, and some types are poor decisions to make at a kiosk — starting with the two-park same-day ticket you need to ride the Hogwarts™ Express. We book them in Canadian dollars with the rest of the package.
Quebec’s spring break, Easter, the holidays and all summer. The quietest weeks fall in January after the holidays, in September and in early November, with the caveat that the parks close earlier off season. Our advisors go through the operating calendar with you before locking in dates.
