On paper: 129,750 gross tons, 339.8 m overall, 37 m moulded beam and 14 decks, nine of them carrying cabins. On board: roughly 1,250 cabins, 2,500 guests at double occupancy, up to 4,000 at maximum capacity and about 1,458 crew. Her IMO number is 9445590, her flag Bahamian, her port of registry Nassau. Meyer Werft handed her over at Papenburg and she has sailed since 31 March 2012, making her the second of the two Dream-class ships.
Both figures are correct, but they measure different things. Double occupancy, 2,500, counts two guests per cabin and is the basis for space-per-guest comparisons. Maximum capacity, 4,000, adds the pull-down berths and sofa beds in family cabins. Some aggregators publish 3,500 as the maximum for this ship, while the shipyard and Disney figure is 4,000, and that is the one to quote.
The two Dream-class ships are technically identical, give or take a few tons. The difference is timing: the Fantasy came out of dry dock on 3 November 2025, a year after the Dream, which makes her the more recently refreshed of the pair. She gained the Fantasy Tower Suite themed to Sorcerer Mickey, the poolside Ramone's Cantina counter, a Concierge lounge inspired by Hercules and the Edge club moved down to deck 5. The Dream leaves Florida for San Juan in April 2027, while the Fantasy stays at Port Canaveral.
Port Canaveral, Florida, is her base all through 2026. Departures run 4, 5 or 6 nights, and each one includes a day at a Disney private destination, either Disney Castaway Cay or Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. The two islands are not equivalent: at Castaway Cay the ship comes to the pier through a dredged channel and nobody needs a tender. So check which one falls on the target week before promising a particular beach.
She keeps the same base for summer 2027, with no change of port. The programme mixes 4- and 5-night Bahamian getaways, 5-night weeks to the western Caribbean and one 10-night southern voyage leaving on 11 July 2027. The flight to book stays Montreal-Trudeau to Orlando non-stop, then around sixty minutes on the road. Several Florida routes are seasonal, so February's schedule does not match July's, and sleeping locally the night before absorbs most delays.
For a family of four, the Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah is the reference, thanks to a bathroom split across two rooms. The Deluxe Inside Stateroom makes up for the missing window with a virtual porthole, a screen carrying the outside view live. Concierge categories open the lounge rebuilt during the dry dock, and the Fantasy Tower Suite fills the forward funnel over two floors. Two traps wait: the solid rail on some verandahs, which hides the sea as soon as you sit, and the cabins sitting under the main pool.
Three family rooms rotate: Enchanted Garden, Animator's Palate and Royal Court, backed by the Cabanas buffet and, since 2025, Ramone's Cantina at the pool. The adult Europa district lines up Ooh La La, Skyline, La Piazza, The Tube and O'Gills Pub, with Palo and Remy for dinner and Cove Café for the daytime. Outside: AquaDuck, AquaLab, Nemo's Reef and Satellite Falls, the last of which is closed to children. The Walt Disney Theatre plays Disney's Believe, Disney's Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular and Frozen, A Musical Spectacular, titles that keep their English form everywhere.
A 2012 ship stays a 2012 ship: the dock period touched the public rooms, not the corridors or the cabin bathrooms. The Fantasy does without AquaMouse and without a Haunted Mansion Parlor, two arguments reserved for the Wish class, and her lounges look tame beside those on the Disney Treasure. Adult zones are tighter than on newer ships, and the family pool overflows on sea days. The AquaDuck, finally, remains very gentle for anyone chasing a thrill.
Included: meals at Royal Court, Enchanted Garden, Animator's Palate and Cabanas, room service, soft drinks, drip coffee and tea, the Walt Disney Theatre shows, the Oceaneer Club, Oceaneer Lab, Edge and Vibe clubs, and the days at both Bahamian private destinations. Charged separately: Palo and Remy, alcohol, specialty coffee, Senses Spa, the Rainforest Room, the nursery, shore excursions, laundry and photos. Gratuities are added to the onboard account. Disney Cruise Line sells no unlimited drink package, which catches out guests arriving from other lines.
A daily per-guest amount is added automatically to the onboard account for every night of the cruise, children included. It is shared between the server, assistant server, head server and stateroom host, meaning the team that follows you from one restaurant to the next through the Royal Court, Enchanted Garden and Animator's Palate rotation. It can be prepaid before departure or adjusted at Guest Services during the sailing. Bar tabs already include a gratuity, and Palo and Remy carry their own service charge.
Disney Cruise Line does not sell an unlimited drink package, unlike most competing lines. Soft drinks, drip coffee, tea and juice come with the fare, both in the restaurants and at the outdoor beverage station. Alcohol is charged by the glass, with a beer mug programme and wine-by-the-bottle packages for regular drinkers. Since 3 June 2026, each guest aged 21 and over may carry aboard one 750 ml bottle of wine or sparkling wine, or six 355 ml beers, in hand luggage only. Alcohol bought ashore is collected at the gangway and returned at the end of the cruise.
Internet access is sold as data packages under the Connect@Sea name and is not part of the fare. Since Starlink was fitted across the fleet, speeds have improved sharply compared with the old satellite service. The chat function in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app works free of charge on board and is enough to keep a family in touch. On the Fantasy's Bahamian itineraries, land cellular coverage takes over in Nassau, while Disney Castaway Cay and Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point stay thinly covered.
The clubs are included in the fare from age 3: Disney's Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab for ages 3 to 10, Edge for 11 to 14, Vibe for 14 to 17. The "it's a small world" nursery takes children aged 6 months to 3 years, charges by the hour and should be booked the moment the window opens, because slots go fast. Nemo's Reef is the splash area designed for toddlers still in nappies, who are not allowed in the pools. The Edge club moved to deck 5 during the 2025 dry dock, so even a family who knew the ship should walk it again.
The Castaway Club is Disney Cruise Line's loyalty programme, and it counts completed cruises rather than nights on board. Silver comes with the first cruise, Gold at five, Platinum at ten and Pearl at twenty-five. The most concrete benefit is the pre-cruise activity booking window: 90 days at Silver, 105 at Gold, 120 at Platinum. On the Fantasy, that head start often decides whether you get into Remy and Palo, which fill on the day the window opens.
At 129,750 gross tons and with stabilisers, the ship handles Caribbean swell well in summer. The steadiest cabins are midship and on the lower decks, while the aft end of deck 12 moves more. The Gulf Stream crossing between Port Canaveral and the Bahamas can get lumpy in winter, and hurricane season runs June to November, peaking August to October. Guest Services hands out tablets at no charge, and an acupressure band takes up no space in a suitcase.
