The Vienna Gate, considered the largest surviving medieval town gate in Europe. Its massive 13th-century towers, some twenty metres high, house the municipal museum, and its vaulted passage still commands respect from drivers.
Nearly two and a half kilometres of walls, punctuated by towers and pierced by several gates, including the Ungartor on the Hungarian side and the Fischertor on the river side. It is the largest fully preserved medieval enceinte in Central Europe.

Barely eleven kilometres. Hainburg is Austria's last town before Slovakia, and the tower of Bratislava Castle can be picked out with the naked eye from the Schlossberg.
The euro and German. Neighbouring Slovakia also uses the euro, which simplifies itineraries linking both banks.
Quite well. The walls, the fortified gate and the ruins of the Heimenburg appeal to children, and the floodplain forests of the Donau-Auen national park below shelter beavers and kingfishers.
