At a piled jetty reaching far out from the shore, an open structure chosen to protect the currents, the seabed and the corals. You reach land along a walkway of about 800 metres above translucent water, then free trams carry you to the heart of the site in about ten minutes.
At the southern tip of Eleuthera. It is Disney Cruise Line's newest destination, opened in June 2024.
It was designed with artists and artisans from the archipelago to celebrate Bahamian culture. Junkanoo here is not an imported show: it is the reason the place exists, and that orientation clearly distinguishes it from other cruise-line islands.
The celebration created with the national Junkanoo committee: costumes of feathers and painted cardboard, percussion that shakes the floor, dancers pulling passengers into the parade. Check the schedule as soon as you land, as the show shapes the day.
The heart of the site, from which shops, activity pavilions and the daily programme radiate. You can make your own Junkanoo headdress under the eye of Bahamian hosts and learn the history of this carnival born in the streets of Nassau.
Yes. Set apart, Serenity Bay offers a beach reserved for adults, with a bar and guaranteed quiet.
Very much so. Rush Out Gush Out, the carnival-coloured splash area with its slides, fountains and water drums, and the supervised Sebastian's Cove club for younger children keep them busy all day. The water at the family beach is shallow.
More than on the other private islands. Between the roughly 800-metre arrival walkway and the tram stops, bring proper sandals. The approach does set the mood, though: rays and turtles are visible from the walkway.
The Bahamian dollar, at par with the US dollar, and English. On site everything is settled with the ship's card.
Only in part. Disney developed just a fraction of Lighthouse Point: the rest remains scrub, low cliffs and coves where turquoise turns to indigo. Some passengers extend the day with an excursion to the neighbouring villages.
