Not on Koločep or Lopud. You get around on foot, by electric cart or by boat. Only Šipan has motor traffic, with a quiet road linking its two harbours.
On Lopud: the village promenade, the 15th-century Franciscan monastery and Šunj beach, twenty minutes on foot. On Koločep: the full island walk takes about two hours. On Šipan: olive oil and wine tastings with local producers.
Yes, it is a regional rarity. Šunj is a genuine sand cove — almost all of the Croatian coast is pebble — where the water stays waist deep for about fifty metres. Allow twenty minutes on foot from Lopud village, or take an electric cart.

Very much so, especially Lopud. Šunj's sand and very gentle entry make it the favourite swim of Dubrovnik families from late May onward. The absence of cars is a relief with young children.
Late May through late September, when the water is warm and the Šunj beach huts are open. Outside that window some services close and the appeal of the call, largely swimming and slow walking, drops off.
Yes, but on a small scale. A few beach huts serve grilled fish and salads at Šunj, and each village has family-run konobas. Do not expect shops, pharmacies or ATMs as in town: bring what you need from the ship.
