May, June and September. The light is lovely, temperatures are manageable and the ancient sites are comfortable to walk. In July and August the heat bears down on Chersonesus, where shade is scarce: a hat and water are essential.
Partly. The submarine, the Panorama and the waterfront promenade appeal to older kids, but the ruins of Chersonesus in full heat and the long flights of stairs tire younger ones quickly. A well-paced half-day beats a packed program.
