Four rivers in a single season

Scenic Jade does not settle on one waterway. Its itineraries touch the Rhine, the Main, the Moselle and the Danube, and the mix changes from year to year with demand. Our inventory on 26 August 2026 counted 158 departure dates, with routes between Amsterdam, Prague and Budapest.

That versatility has a practical consequence few brochures explain: the same ship does not offer the same calls in April and in September. The short spring itineraries concentrate on the middle Rhine; the autumn ones push further east. Choosing a date here amounts to choosing a river.

What the Moselle adds

When it appears in the programme, the Moselle changes the nature of the voyage. The tight loops between Koblenz and Trier impose slow navigation, the villages are small and the quays short. The contrast with the Rhine, where ships sometimes lie three abreast at the same quay, is immediate.

The hull

Delivered in 2014 by the Den Breejen yard, it is 135 metres long and carries 169 guests in 85 suites, in sixteen categories. It belongs to the generation opened in 2012, whose configuration stayed stable through to the last ship of the series.

The lower-deck suites have a high fixed window. The upper decks receive the line's retractable glass balcony, a glass wall that lowers and turns the suite into a veranda without exposing the room to rain.

The other ships in the fleet

Scenic Jewel tends to hold the long Amsterdam-Budapest route. Scenic Crystal opened the generation. Scenic Jasper and Scenic Ruby share the same configuration, give or take a few details.

The line's all-inclusive

It covers life aboard and the outings: gratuities, meals, standard wines and spirits at table, Wi-Fi, a butler in every suite, Freechoice excursions with a choice at each port, Enrich cultural events and Sundowner receptions. On the European ships, electric bicycles are available during port calls.

It does not cover fine vintages outside the standard selection, spa treatments, or gratuities left outside the organised route.

Air travel escapes that list because it varies with the package chosen. Some arrangements include it, others do not, and this changes with the market and the selling period. Have it confirmed in writing before booking rather than assuming it one way or the other.

The everyday aboard

Adult clientele, with no youth programme and no childcare, and a practical threshold around twelve years that the line applies with some judgement. This is not a cruise built to occupy children, and it is better known before booking than discovered aboard.

A lift links the main decks. The sun deck is reached by stair, which matters for a traveller with reduced mobility since that is where the landscape is best seen. Fitted suites sit near reception; their number is checked on the deck plan.

Booking here rather than elsewhere

Voyages AquaTerra is licensed by Quebec's Office de la protection du consommateur. Money paid goes through a trust account and the Compensation Fund for Customers of Travel Agents applies in the situations the law provides. That framework does not follow a booking made elsewhere.

Allow a connection, often two on distant itineraries, and a hotel night before embarkation. That night is not a luxury: it is the margin that absorbs a delayed flight.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Rhine, the Main, the Moselle and the Danube. The mix changes from year to year with demand, so choosing a date often amounts to choosing a river.
Yes, markedly. The short spring routes concentrate on the middle Rhine, the autumn ones push further east. The same ship therefore does not offer the same calls in April and September.
A hundred and sixty-nine guests in 85 suites, in sixteen categories. It has been the standard configuration of the series since Scenic Crystal, delivered in 2012.
Our inventory measured 158 departure dates on 26 August 2026, across 2026 and 2027, with routes between Amsterdam, Prague and Budapest.
In 2014, at the Den Breejen yard in the Netherlands. No major refit has been documented since, unlike the ships assigned to the French itineraries.
Slow navigation through tight loops, small villages and short quays. On the Rhine, ships sometimes lie three abreast at the same quay; on the Moselle, never.
Not on the European river hulls. The entry categories, on the lower deck, open onto a fixed window. That is a point to settle before the deposit rather than after.
A hundred and thirty-five metres, the standard length of the European series. It fits all four rivers in the programme, including the loops of the Moselle.
No. Gratuities are part of the fare, for the crew as well as for the people running things ashore. One budget line fewer, and one moment of awkwardness fewer at disembarkation.
Depending on the formula. The same itinerary sometimes appears with flights and sometimes without, from one market and one period to another. It is the line that varies most, and the first to verify.
No, they are part of the fare through the Freechoice programme. What sets the formula apart is the choice at each port rather than one visit imposed on the whole ship.
It accepts teenagers without organising anything for them, and applies a practical threshold around twelve years with some judgement. There is no club, no childcare and no youth programme.
Partly. A lift serves the main decks, without reaching the sun deck. Suites fitted for reduced mobility sit near reception; their number varies from hull to hull.
Yes, electrically assisted bicycles free to use during port calls. Along the Rhine and the Main, cycle paths follow the bank almost without a break.
In Quebec, a licensed agency deposits the sums it receives into a trust account kept separate from its own funds. The Compensation Fund for Customers of Travel Agents then steps in where the law provides.
