Description
You enter Ireland through Dublin, its pubs and the Trinity College library. Then the road heads west: a 6th-century monastery bristling with Celtic crosses, a farm where tea is served with scones, and Galway, facing the Atlantic. The next day, the Cliffs of Moher drop 200 metres into the sea. Further north, Connemara lines up its lakes, and Kylemore Abbey is mirrored in the water.
In Belfast, the Titanic museum tells the ship's story from the shipyards where it was born. The Antrim coast then leads to the Giant's Causeway, 40,000 basalt columns so regular they seem cut by hand. A ferry drops you in Scotland: Glasgow, Loch Lomond, a distillery where you taste Scotch where it ages, then Edinburgh and its hilltop castle.
The road south into England runs through York and its Shambles, Stratford-upon-Avon where Shakespeare was born, the honey-coloured stone villages of the Cotswolds and the colleges of Oxford. London closes the journey with three nights and two free days to choose between free museums, markets and parks.
Three countries, seventeen days, a French-speaking tour escort from departure to return.
