Viking Prestige: withdrawn from the fleet, and how we know

No departures in our catalogue, absence from the roster Viking publishes, absence from the master list verified against the company's own pages. Three independent instruments, one answer, as at 25 August 2026.

A withdrawn ship and a ship without dates are not the same thing

The distinction matters, and it explains why we treat differently two situations that look alike from a distance.

A withdrawn ship, like this one, fails all three checks. She has no dates with us, the line no longer lists her, and she is absent from the master list. Three zeros: the conclusion is solid.

A ship without dates fails only the first. Viking Odin is in that position: her official page gives 2012 and 190 guests, so she sails, but our catalogue shows no departures. That is not a withdrawal, it is an inventory gap, and we have put it to our data supplier.

Confusing the two would mean withdrawing from sale a ship that sails, or letting someone hope for a cruise on a hull that no longer exists. Hence three instruments rather than one.

    What to turn to

The current Longships are identical to one another, and the choice is made on the river. Viking Kara offers 151 departures on the Rhine, and Viking Var 163 on the Danube out of Regensburg.

Our Viking River Cruises advisors confirm in writing the exact fare, the inclusions and the applicable conditions before any booking, in line with Quebec consumer protection rules and participation in the compensation fund for travel agency customers.

    Frequently Asked Questions

No. No departures in our catalogue, absence from the roster the line publishes, absence from the master list. Three independent instruments, one answer.
A withdrawn ship fails all three checks. A ship without dates fails only the first: the line still lists her, but our catalogue shows no departures.
Viking Odin. Her official page gives 2012 and 190 guests, so she sails, but our catalogue showed no departures as at 25 August 2026.
Because confusing the two would mean withdrawing from sale a ship that sails, or letting someone hope for a cruise on a hull that no longer exists.
Because one instrument cannot tell a withdrawal from a data gap. Three concordant zeros are a conclusion; a single zero is a question.
Our sources do not establish it. We publish no hypothesis on that point: a plausible but unverified explanation is not information.
No. We have no departures to sell on her and the line no longer lists her in its published fleet.
Three: Viking Freya, Viking Idun and Viking Odin. The question has been put to our data supplier.
Thirteen for Viking River. Each keeps its page with an explanatory text and a pointer to current ships.
Viking Kara, with 151 departures measured on 25 August 2026, of which 43 from Basel to Amsterdam.
Viking Var, with 163 departures out of Regensburg. It is the fullest calendar of the eight Longships we sell from that city.
No. They all measure 135 metres and carry 190 guests with 53 crew. The choice is made on the river and the date.
Because the name still circulates. A clear answer beats an error page or an outdated brochure.
Not from Quebec. The reservations site there redirects to a page stating it is unavailable and inviting travellers to contact an agent.
In writing, before booking. AquaTerra Travels follows Quebec consumer protection rules and participates in the compensation fund for travel agency customers.
