There is only one Aria Amazon, and our catalogue gave her two pages: this one, under the Aqua Expeditions name, and another under the Uniworld prefix, since Uniworld charters the boat. The boat, in short

Delivered in 2011 by Hai Minh Shipyard, in Ho Chi Minh City, designed by the Peruvian architect Jordi Puig. Forty-five metres by nine, three decks, sixteen suites, thirty-two guests, twenty-seven crew. She climbs the Peruvian Amazon out of Iquitos, on the Yarapa, the Yanayacu and the Ucayali. Departures run from 9 September 2026 to 3 December 2027.

Why two brands sell the same boat

Aqua Expeditions owns the hull and operates her. Uniworld has programmed her since September 2020, often combined with Machu Picchu, and Avalon Waterways sells her too. One boat can carry several catalogues: what changes is the land programme and the price, not the cabins. When you compare two offers on Aria Amazon, compare what surrounds the boat.

The house changed hands

Ponant Explorations Group took a majority stake in Aqua Expeditions on 17 January 2025. Ponant and Aqua are now part of the same group, without resembling one another.

Aqua Nera works the same water, larger: twenty suites against sixteen. Aqua Mekong is her sister, on the Mekong.

Ponant Explorations Group took a majority stake in Aqua Expeditions on 17 January 2025. The brand continues under its own name, as a standalone unit, and its founder Francesco Galli Zugaro remains a shareholder and its head. In practice nothing changes aboard for you: same crew, same boat.

The line sells fares described as all-inclusive, but we have not measured what they cover boat by boat and we will not assert it here. Ask your advisor for the written list before booking: it is the only answer that protects you.
Aqua Expeditions guides work in English. If French matters to you, say so to your advisor before booking: some lines charter these same boats with French-speaking guiding and others do not, and it has to be checked departure by departure.
Not yet. The address answers, but it is served by a generic template that shows every ship on the site instead of this house's six. We measured it and reported it; meanwhile the boat pages point to one another.
Your agency, and it alone. Voyages AquaTerra operates under a licence from Quebec's Office de la protection du consommateur, your payments pass through a trust account, and the compensation fund for travel agency clients covers your departure.
Both words apply and neither says everything. There are cabins, service and sit-down meals, as on a cruise. There are also daily outings in small craft, hours set by light and water rather than by a programme, and cancellations for reasons of nature. If you need a fixed schedule, this is not the right trip.
