When to Go to Disney in Florida: a Quebec Family Calendar
The best windows for a Quebec traveller are mid-January to the first week of February, late April, weekdays in May, late August and September, then early November and the first weekdays of December. Quebec’s school break, from 1 to 5 March 2027 in most school service centres, falls just before the bulk of American spring break, and that is an advantage worth using.
Avoid if you can: American Thanksgiving week, 20 December to 2 January, Presidents’ Day week, American spring break from 6 March onward, and July.
Quebec’s 2027 school break, and why the timing works
The school break week is not set province-wide. Each school service centre adopts its own calendar, and dates vary from one centre to another, sometimes from one school to another. For 2027, the adopted calendars target the week of Monday 1 to Friday 5 March. Check your own school service centre calendar before booking anything.
What makes that week interesting: specialist sources place the bulk of American spring break from 6 March 2027 onward. A Quebec family travelling in the first week of March therefore arrives during a still-manageable period and leaves as the crowds build. It is not a quiet week, but it is a markedly more liveable one than the week that follows.
Month by month

| October | 29.3 / 19.0 °C | 88 mm | Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend, 22 to 25 October 2026 | Busy during Columbus Day week and at Halloween |
| November | 25.7 / 14.6 °C | 45 mm | Very Merry Christmas Party from 8 November 2026; American Thanksgiving on the 26th | Excellent early on, very busy the week of the 23rd |
| December | 23.2 / 11.6 °C | 63 mm | Festival of the Holidays, 27 November to 30 December 2026 | Quiet the first weekdays, the worst of the year after the 20th |
The most oppressive month is not the one you think
July posts the highest daytime reading, but August is the one that wears people out. The overnight low reaches 23.2 °C, so the night no longer cools anything, morning relative humidity climbs to 91 per cent, and nearly 200 mm of rain falls.
A detail few people know: the United States National Weather Service specifies that published heat index values apply to shaded locations, and that in direct sunlight the felt value can climb several degrees higher. A park queue in August is direct sunlight for forty minutes. That is what explains the shortened days and the children in tears around 2 p.m.
Hurricane season, without the drama
The Atlantic hurricane season runs from 1 June to 30 November. The statistical peak falls on 10 September, and most activity concentrates between mid-August and mid-October.
Parks rarely close. What gets complicated is flights, and sometimes a whole park day spent waiting it out. The answer is bought before departure: travel insurance covering cancellation and interruption. Buying after an advisory has been issued changes everything, because claims tied to the reason for an advisory already in force can be refused.
The events that change a day
Some separately ticketed evenings empty Magic Kingdom Park of its regular visitors and fill it with party guests. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party runs from 7 August to 31 October 2026 on select nights, 7 p.m. to midnight, with entry from 4 p.m. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party keeps the same hours from 8 November to 22 December 2026.
On those nights the park closes earlier for regular ticket holders. A family that does not know this loses its evening. A family that does buys the party ticket and finds itself in a Magic Kingdom Park half as busy as it is during the day.
runDisney weekends fill the hotels and restaurants without necessarily filling the parks. At EPCOT the festivals run almost back to back: the Food & Wine Festival from 27 August to 21 November 2026, then the Festival of the Holidays from 27 November to 30 December 2026. Dates for the 2027 Festival of the Arts and Flower & Garden Festival are announced later in the year.
If your children cannot miss school
Four usable windows remain: the school break from 1 to 5 March 2027, the holiday break if you accept the crowds, late June after the last day of class, set at 23 June 2027 in several school service centres, and the last week of August before the return to school, set at 27 or 28 August depending on the centre.
Of those four, the school break remains the best. Late June arrives just as American holidays begin and the heat settles in. Late August is workable if you accept the humidity, and the parks genuinely empty out after Central Florida schools go back early in the month.
One note about crowd calendars
Disney publishes no official crowd calendar. Every one you find online comes from a commercial site selling planning services. What is solid and verifiable is the American school and public holiday calendar, because it is American school schedules that fill the parks. The rest is estimation, and we present it as such.
