Disney Wish: the ship leaving the Bahamas for Europe in summer 2027

The Disney Wish measures 144,256 gross tons, 340.9 m long by 39 m in moulded beam, over 15 decks. She holds roughly 1,254 cabins, 2,508 guests at double occupancy and up to 4,000 at maximum capacity, with 1,555 crew. Delivered by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, she entered service on 14 July 2022, flies the Bahamian flag and is registered in Nassau. Her home port is still Port Canaveral, Florida, where she runs 3- and 4-night cruises to Nassau, Disney Castaway Cay (pronounced "key") and Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.

From 25 April to 10 September 2027 she moves to the Mediterranean and Northern Europe

The Disney Wish has lived in the Bahamas on short sailings since 2022, and that pattern ends. She crosses the Atlantic from 25 April 2027, then works out of Barcelona, Civitavecchia for Rome and Southampton, on cruises of 3 to 13 nights through 10 September 2027: western Mediterranean, Greek Isles, Adriatic, Norwegian fjords, British Isles. For a Quebec guest the maths change completely. A 3-night add-on to a Florida week becomes a transatlantic trip planned a year ahead. A May 2027 dry dock window is circulating on a maritime data aggregator; Disney has not confirmed it and it sits awkwardly against the announced European season. Treat it as a forecast, not a fact.

What the move means for the flight you buy

Barcelona and Rome are non-stop from Montreal-Trudeau, as is London-Heathrow, which leaves about 1 h 30 by road to the port of Southampton. No non-stop flight from Montreal reaches Southampton itself, so plan a London night or a morning transfer. Several of these routes are seasonal: one that operates in February may not operate in July, and the reverse happens too. Two nights on the ground before embarkation beat one when the bags have crossed the Atlantic.

The exact names on board, and the one that is missing

Family rotational dining covers 1923, Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure and Worlds of Marvel. Adults get Palo Steakhouse, Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement and The Rose, while Marceline Market, the Mickey & Friends Festival of Foods food hall and Inside Out: Joyful Sweets feed the rest of the ship. The lounges are Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge, The Bayou, Keg & Compass, Nightingale's, Luna and Currents. Up top, the AquaMouse, Slide-a-saurus Rex, the Toy Story Splash Zone and the Hero Zone sports arena keep families busy, and Senses Spa houses Hook's Barbery and Untangled Salon. The Walt Disney Theatre stages Disney Seas the Adventure, Disney The Little Mermaid and Disney's Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular. The Haunted Mansion Parlor is not here: for that, look at the Disney Treasure.

Which cabin to pick, especially for a European season

Categories run from inside cabins with a virtual porthole up to the Wish Tower Suite, built into the forward funnel and inspired by Moana. In between, Deluxe Oceanview with Verandah remains the best compromise, and connecting family cabins solve parties of six. Accessible cabins are few and go early: on a European departure, ask for one the day bookings open. For the April 2027 crossing, the spring North Atlantic argues for a midship cabin on a low deck rather than an aft verandah.

Three ships to weigh against the Disney Wish

A guest disappointed that the Wish leaves for Europe but committed to a Florida departure in 2027 should move to the Disney Destiny, the newer sister based in Fort Lauderdale, in service since 20 November 2025, with 4,116 guests at maximum capacity. The Disney Adventure plays a different game out of Singapore: 208,108 gross tons, about 6,700 guests at maximum capacity and 19 decks numbered 4 to 20 with deck 14 omitted, though Disney publishes no double-occupancy figure for her and Montreal has no non-stop service. Our Disney Cruise Line page sets all eight ships side by side.

Who the Disney Wish is wrong for

The 3- and 4-night formats that built her reputation vanish for summer 2027, so a family wanting a short, low-commitment first cruise should look at another ship or another season. A guest who dislikes themed meals will struggle with Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure, a dinner show where service follows the performance. She has no running track and no high ropes course, unlike several competitors of the same size. And a European season means long port days, paid port transfers and shore excursions sold separately from the fare.

Frequently Asked Questions

Disney Wish suits families with children aged 3 to 12 taking a first Disney Cruise Line sailing, and guests who want to try Disney without committing a full week — its cruises run 3 to 5 nights. Couples without children will find Palo Steakhouse, Enchanté and the Quiet Cove deck, but the ship is built around characters and families.
Disney Wish launched the Wish class in 2022, a completely new design after a decade of Dream-class ships. It introduced AquaMouse, the first Disney attraction at sea, a Grand Hall styled as a fairy-tale ballroom rather than an Art Deco atrium, and two new rotational restaurants: Worlds of Marvel and Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure. Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny share its hull with different themes.
Disney Wish is about 144,000 gross tons across 15 decks, with roughly 1,250 staterooms. Be careful with the 4,000-guest figure: that is maximum capacity, counting bunks and pull-down berths. At double occupancy it carries closer to 2,500 guests, served by about 1,550 crew. That ratio — one crew member for fewer than two guests — is what explains the attentive service on board.
The veranda stateroom is the default choice on Disney Wish, and the layout was designed for families: the bath is split from the toilet, which changes everything in the morning with children. Inside staterooms have a Magical Porthole, a virtual porthole showing the real view outside. Concierge categories add a private lounge. Our Créateurs de Magie can guide you at 1-866-628-6241.
On Disney Wish you change restaurants each evening while your serving team follows you: 1923, Worlds of Marvel with the Avengers: Quantum Encounter show, and Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure. All included. On the attraction side, AquaMouse is the first Disney attraction at sea, alongside The Incredibles: Hero Zone and the Disney Uncharted Adventure game. Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté, both adults-only, cost extra.
Disney Wish sails from Port Canaveral, Florida, on 3- to 5-night Bahamian cruises: Nassau, Disney Castaway Cay (pronounced "key") and Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point on Eleuthera. Newly announced for summer 2027, the ship crosses to Europe and sails from Southampton, Barcelona and Civitavecchia near Rome. From Montréal, Orlando is a non-stop flight, roughly an hour from the port. Book early at 1-866-628-6241.
Disney Wish entered service in July 2022, built by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany. It is Disney Cruise Line's fifth ship and the first of the Wish class. Rather than naming a single godmother, Disney designated the children of the Make-A-Wish Foundation as the ship's godchildren. Disney Treasure in 2024 and Disney Destiny in 2025 were built on the same platform.
Price, first. Disney Cruise Line is the most expensive line in the family market, and Disney Wish often sells for double a comparable Royal Caribbean ship on the same dates. Add the absence of a casino, lines at AquaMouse during peak hours, and crowded outdoor decks on 3-night sailings. A couple without children looking for quiet gets less for their money.
Included on Disney Wish: the three rotational restaurants, the buffet, soft drinks even at the bar, Walt Disney Theatre shows, the youth clubs and character experiences. Extra: alcohol, Palo Steakhouse, Enchanté, Wi-Fi, shore excursions, spa treatments and gratuities. That density of live entertainment and supervised programming explains much of the price gap with a competing ship.
No. A recommended per-guest, per-night amount is added to your onboard account on Disney Wish, shared among your server, assistant server, head server and stateroom host or hostess. You can prepay before sailing, or adjust or remove it at Guest Services. Bar gratuities are separate and added automatically to each drink.
No. Disney Cruise Line does not sell an unlimited drinks package, and Disney Wish is no exception. Soft drinks, coffee, tea and juice are already included, at meals and at the pool-deck fountains. Alcohol is paid per drink, with wine-bottle packages and tastings as the only bundled options. You may also bring a limited quantity of wine or beer on board.
Yes. Disney Wish is connected to the Starlink satellite network, which makes the connection genuinely usable for video and work, unlike the older ships in the fleet. Guest-to-guest messaging in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app is free on board, and that is often all a family needs to stay in touch. Internet packages themselves cost extra and are best booked before sailing.
It is the ship's greatest strength. Disney's Oceaneer Club brings together Marvel Super Hero Academy, Fairytale Hall, Star Wars: Cargo Bay and the Walt Disney Imagineering Lab for ages 3 to 12. Edge serves tweens, Vibe serves teens. It's a Small World Nursery takes 6 months to 3 years for an hourly fee. The clubs are included and open long hours.
Castaway Club rewards you from your very first cruise, Disney Wish included: Silver after one sailing, Gold at five, Platinum at ten, Pearl at twenty-five. The real benefit is not the welcome gift — it is the activity booking window, which opens earlier at each tier. On a ship this popular, that is what decides who gets Palo Steakhouse and the cabanas.
The risk is low. At 144,000 gross tons and fitted with stabilizers, Disney Wish handles swell well, and its short Bahamian cruises stay in sheltered waters. If a child is sensitive, book a midship stateroom on a lower deck and keep them out in the fresh air rather than in the stateroom. Guest Services hands out seasickness tablets at no charge.
