A 1,250 m wooden path winding through the treetops up to 23 m above the ground, ending at a viewing platform above the canopy. It is at Orscholz on the plateau, reached by excursion or taxi from Mettlach.
The path is designed to be accessible to pushchairs and cautious walkers alike, with no stairs. It is still long: 1,250 m each way, plus the trip from the quay. Allow time and wear good shoes.
The Saar curling 180 m below around a fully wooded spur, in a silence broken only by birds. It is the most photographed view on the Saar and justifies the trip on its own.
Yes to both. The Saar cycle path starts right in the village, towards Merzig one way and the Moselle the other. In season, local excursion boats offer short trips on the water.
The euro. The factory outlet and the main site take cards; for village cafés, taxis and small counters, keep cash.
German dominates, but the Villeroy & Boch site receives international visitors and manages well in English. In the village cafés, exchanges are mostly in German.
