Splendour of the Seas: sold in 2015, she still sails under another name

Splendour of the Seas was sold to TUI Cruises in March 2015. Her last departure for Royal Caribbean took place on 4 April 2016. She became TUI Discovery in 2016, then Marella Discovery in October 2017.

Unlike Sovereign of the Seas, this ship was not scrapped: she still sails, but for Marella Cruises. She is no longer a Royal Caribbean ship, and we have no Royal Caribbean departures to sell on her.

A Vision-class hull

Splendour belonged to the Vision class, four units of which still appear in our Royal Caribbean catalogue: Grandeur of the Seas from 1996, Rhapsody of the Seas and Enchantment of the Seas from 1997, and Vision of the Seas from 1998.

A client with a good memory of Splendour is therefore looking, without knowing it, for one of those four ships. The format is the same: 11 decks, around 2,000 guests, 279 metres of length.

Which of the four to choose

Rhapsody of the Seas is the most recently refitted of the class, through the Cadiz yard at the end of 2019. Grandeur of the Seas dates from May 2012 and Vision of the Seas from 2013.

On deployment, Grandeur offers 139 departures from Colón, Cartagena and San Juan; Rhapsody 80 departures from San Juan and Piraeus; Vision 90 departures from San Juan and Baltimore, the latter reachable by car from Montreal.
