Voyager of the Seas carries 3,602 guests at double occupancy with 1,200 crew. The ratio is 3.00. Across the 16 Royal Caribbean ships for which we hold both figures without contradiction, that is the highest value measured: the spread runs from 2.38 to 3.00.

We say so rather than hide it. It does not mean the service is poor, it means there is proportionally less staff aboard than on Harmony of the Seas and her ratio of 2.38 — a much larger ship. The intuition "small ship, attentive service" does not survive measurement.

Three ports, three continents

Our 105 departures on Voyager split between Los Angeles (33), Brisbane (28) and Seattle (26). Like Quantum of the Seas, she is a ship that crosses the Pacific rather than a shuttle.

For a Montreal traveller, Los Angeles takes about six hours of direct flying, Seattle a little over six hours, and Brisbane some fifteen hours with at least one connection. The season decides the port, and the port decides the travel budget.

The measurements, and what we refuse to publish

Delivered in 1999 by the Kværner Masa-Yards yard at Turku, Finland, Voyager has 15 decks and carries up to 4,000 guests maximum. Her last documented refit dates from September 2019.

Her tonnage, her length and her beam are contradicted within our own source, with three doubled values. We publish none of them. The ship is of the same generation and the same yard as Explorer of the Seas, whose verified tonnage is 138,194, which gives an order of magnitude without advancing a wrong figure.

Twenty-seven years of hull

Delivered in 1999, Voyager is one of the oldest ships in the company's service. Grandeur of the Seas dates from 1996, Legend of the Seas from 2026: thirty years separate the two ends of the fleet.

A client comparing two ships on their year of construction alone is using the wrong criterion. The refit date matters more, and Voyager's, in September 2019, is more recent than that of several younger ships.

Across 15 decks, the stateroom's position relative to the lifts weighs more than the deck number. Over seven days, the gap between a well placed cabin and one at the far end is measured in tens of minutes of walking per person.
