Here is what the acquisition agreement provided, and it should be read for what it is rather than for what anyone would have wished.

Affected customers received travel credits to be used with the acquirer. Those credits cover up to half the cost of an Aurora Expeditions voyage, at published brochure rates. In other words it is not a cash refund: it is a conditional discount on a future purchase, and the 50 per cent ceiling assumes you pay the rest.

Since the reference price is the brochure rate, a credit's real value depends heavily on the voyage chosen and the season. That calculation is worth doing calmly, with someone who knows what these trips actually sell for.
