Frequently Asked Questions
Multigenerational families, and travellers who want longer Caribbean itineraries than Carnival usually sells. The ship runs mostly 6- and 8-day sailings out of Miami, including an 8-day loop to Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao you will not find on the line's short-cruise ships. It is not the ship for anyone seeking refined dining.
Very little in the hull: same 130,000 gross tons, same 306-metre length, same 3,690 guests at double occupancy. The real differences are dining and deployment. Magic has Pizzeria del Capitano and Seafood Shack; Breeze has Bonsai Sushi. More importantly, Magic sails from Miami on 6- and 8-day cruises, Breeze from Galveston on 4- and 5-day ones.
130,000 gross tons, 306 metres long, 37 metres wide, 14 guest-accessible decks and 1,845 staterooms. Official capacity is 3,690 guests at double occupancy, but with every berth filled the ship reaches roughly 4,724 guests, plus 1,367 crew. The 30-minute buffet and elevator queues at peak hours follow directly from that.
For a family of five, Magic offers genuine quint staterooms, which are rare in the fleet. Cloud 9 Spa cabins include direct access to the spa and thermal areas with no extra daily charge. The ship has neither a Havana section nor Family Harbor — those concepts arrived with the Vista class. Avoid deck 9 cabins directly under the Lido deck.
Included in the fare: the main dining rooms, the buffet, Guy's Burger Joint, BlueIguana Cantina, Pizzeria del Capitano, the Mongolian Wok and the WaterWorks aqua park. Extra charge: Cucina del Capitano, Seafood Shack, the steakhouse and the Chef's Table. For activities, SportSquare houses SkyCourse, the first suspended ropes course installed on a cruise ship, and the Lanai wraps around deck 5.
Miami, year-round. It alternates 6-day Eastern Caribbean cruises — Amber Cove, Grand Turk, Celebration Key or RelaxAway Half Moon Cay — with Western runs to Montego Bay and Grand Cayman, plus 8-day sailings to San Juan, St. Maarten and St. Thomas, or to Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao. From Montreal, a non-stop flight to Miami is enough.
Entered service on 1 May 2011, christened in Venice, built by Fincantieri at Monfalcone. It came out of a 35-day drydock at Grand Bahama Shipyard on 25 May 2026: new bow crest, rebuilt casino and arcade, reconfigured Lido restaurant, refreshed WaterWorks, a brand-new mini-golf course, and a modernised Cloud 9 Spa and fitness centre. So it is 15 years old, but freshly renovated.
Three complaints recur. Queues: 30 minutes or more at the buffet and the elevators when the ship is full. The thin choice of included dinner venues once the pizzeria closes, which leaves the main dining rooms and the buffet. And the absence of Carnival's recent headline features: no roller coaster, no Havana section, no Family Harbor on this ship.

It pays off more easily on Magic's 8-day sailings than on short cruises, because the package is charged for the full length of the voyage and there are more sea days. Two conditions: every occupant of the stateroom aged 21 and over must buy it, and the limit is 15 alcoholic drinks per 24-hour period.
Well enough if you buy the right plan. Three tiers are sold: Social for social media, Value for email and browsing, Premium for video streaming and video calls. One device at a time unless you take the multi-device option. On the 8-day Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao runs the signal stays stable, but throughput drops when everyone returns from a port call.
Yes — they are its core audience. Camp Ocean takes ages 2 to 11 split into Penguins, Stingrays and Sharks, Circle "C" covers 12 to 14, Club O2 covers 15 to 17. The Seuss at Sea program adds a themed breakfast and a parade. Children must be toilet-trained for the pools. Magic's quint staterooms make life much simpler for families of five.
Rarely on these itineraries, but it is not impossible. The Eastern and Southern Caribbean are generally calm from December to April; hurricane season, June through November, can bring swell and port changes. A 306-metre ship with stabilisers absorbs a great deal. If you are sensitive, choose a midship cabin on a lower deck.
Yes. Carnival Rewards replaced the line's former loyalty program in 2026 across the fleet, Carnival Magic included. The four tiers — Red, Gold, Platinum and Diamond — are now earned through stars accumulated on qualifying spend, cruise fare and onboard purchases, measured over a two-year period. Status already earned was carried across automatically.
It is Carnival's private destination on Grand Bahama, opened in July 2025 and served by pier, so no tenders. It appears on several of Magic's 6-day itineraries. You will find built beaches, pools and paid cabana zones. It is an organised beach day, not a cultural discovery of the Bahamas — set your expectations accordingly.
