Ovation of the Seas: a 2016 hull out of dry dock in March 2026

Ovation of the Seas went through the Seatrium Tuas yard in Singapore in March 2026 for a major transformation. She is one of three Royal Caribbean ships refreshed that year, alongside Harmony of the Seas at Cadiz in April and Liberty of the Seas in the same month.

That matters more than the year of construction. A 2016 hull rebuilt in 2026 offers newer spaces than a 2018 hull never touched. The refit date is the first figure to look at, the delivery date the second.

One hundred and fifty-seven departures out of one hundred and sixty-one, at the same pier

Our catalogue lists 161 departures on Ovation, 157 of them from Los Angeles. That is the third largest calendar in the fleet, behind the 171 of Utopia of the Seas and the 162 of Wonder of the Seas.

That concentration simplifies planning: one airport to aim for, about six hours of direct flying from Montreal, and a short transfer to the pier. It does close the door on Caribbean and Mediterranean itineraries, which do not appear on this ship's calendar.

The measurements

Delivered in 2016 by the Meyer Werft yard at Papenburg, Germany, Ovation measures 348 metres and is rated at 168,666 gross tons. She has 16 decks, 14 of them accessible to guests, and carries 4,180 at double occupancy, 4,905 maximum.

Her crew complement is not published by a source we consider reliable. We therefore do not calculate her guest-to-crew ratio, and we do not invent it. On identical measurements, Quantum of the Seas shows 2.79 with 1,500 crew.

What 348 metres mean underfoot

Across 14 accessible decks and 348 metres of length, the stateroom's position relative to the lifts weighs more than the deck number. Over seven days, the gap between a well placed cabin and one at the far end is measured in tens of minutes of walking per person.

That is our first placement advice, ahead even of cabin category. It costs nothing and it changes the rhythm of a week.

Los Angeles, a port that combines

One hundred and fifty-seven departures at the same pier means the city becomes part of the trip. Two or three nights in California before boarding absorb the three-hour time difference and turn a seven-day cruise into a ten-day holiday.

It is also a port that forgives delays. A missed six-hour flight can be recovered the same day, which is not the case on a twenty-hour journey to Singapore. Of the 30 ships in service, few offer that safety margin with a calendar this full.

Who she suits

Travellers who want a recently refitted hull without paying for the newest ship, and families on the west coast or those combining the cruise with a stay in California. A client after the Caribbean should look elsewhere: Ovation does not go there.

Our Royal Caribbean advisors confirm the exact fare, inclusions and applicable conditions before any booking, in line with Quebec consumer protection rules.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, at the Seatrium Tuas yard in Singapore in March 2026. She is one of three Royal Caribbean ships refreshed that year, with Harmony of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas, both in April.
From Los Angeles for 157 of her 161 departures in our catalogue. That is the third largest calendar in the fleet, behind Utopia of the Seas and Wonder of the Seas.
About six hours on a direct flight, followed by a short transfer to the pier. The transfer is never included by default and is arranged separately.
She carries 4,180 at double occupancy and up to 4,905 maximum, like Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas.
She measures 348 metres, is rated at 168,666 gross tons and has 16 decks, 14 of them accessible to guests.
In 2016, at the Meyer Werft yard in Papenburg, Germany. She is the third ship of the Quantum class.
The refit date often matters more than the delivery year. A 2016 hull rebuilt in 2026 offers newer spaces than a 2018 hull never touched.
We do not publish it. Her crew complement is not given by a source we consider reliable, and we would rather withhold an uncertain figure than advance one that might be wrong.
Not in our catalogue. Almost all of her 161 departures leave from Los Angeles. For the Caribbean, Utopia of the Seas offers 171 departures from Port Canaveral.
Around the lifts you will use most, not around the deck number. Over seven days, the gap is measured in tens of minutes of walking per person.
Sixteen decks in total, 14 of them accessible to guests. That is the configuration of the whole Quantum class.
Yes, particularly for combining the cruise with a stay in California. The six-hour direct flight from Montreal remains reasonable with children.
No. Los Angeles requires a flight. Of the 30 Royal Caribbean ships in service, only four sail from a drivable port from Montreal.
A 168,666-ton hull moves markedly less than a 90,090-ton unit such as those of the Radiance class. On that criterion alone, the Quantum class suits well.
