This ship has left Seabourn: she becomes the Mitsui Ocean Sakura

The Seabourn Sojourn was sold to Mitsui Ocean Cruises, announced in March 2025. The structure of the deal is worth explaining: the buyer immediately chartered her back to Seabourn so she could finish her last world cruise. She therefore sailed under Seabourn colours until mid-May 2026, after fifteen years of service, before passing to her new owner. She enters Japanese service as the Mitsui Ocean Sakura in September 2026.

This page stays online because the name will go on being searched. It carries no departure dates, and that is as it should be.

    What she was

Built in 2010 by T. Mariotti at Genoa, the second of the three sisters. One hundred and ninety-eight metres by twenty-five, thirty-two thousand three hundred and forty-six gross tons, two hundred and twenty-five suites, four hundred and fifty guests, three hundred and thirty crew, eleven decks.

If she is the ship you were looking for

The Seabourn Quest is the only one of the three sisters still with Seabourn, and she is the closest ship to this one. The Odyssey, the eldest, took the same road to Japan two years earlier. For a larger and newer hull, the Ovation, and the fleet as a whole to compare.

    Booking from Quebec

The contract repays a careful reading, because it is markedly less favourable than several competitors'. The carrier is Holland America Line Limited, which has operated the Seabourn ships since 17 December 2024. United States maritime law applies, and where it does not, the law of the State of Washington.

A personal injury or death claim goes to the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington at Seattle, or a court in King County. Every other claim goes to binding arbitration in that same county. And the contract imposes a class-action waiver: you sue alone, never as a group.

The notice periods are the shortest we have recorded on this site. Six months for injury or death. Fifteen days for any other claim. One year to file suit, ninety days to serve. Fifteen days go quickly once you are home: write the disembarkation date down somewhere.

The carrier also reserves the right to cancel the cruise or deviate from the route, ports and timetable, for any reason and without notice. Nothing establishes a Quebec licence for it. Your protection comes from here: Voyages AquaTerra holds a licence from the Office de la protection du consommateur, your payments pass through a trust account, and your departure is covered by the compensation fund for travel agency customers.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, and the operator's wording is plain: they are neither required nor expected. No daily service charge is posted to your onboard account and no envelope is expected at disembarkation. That is the reverse of several lines where the service charge is automatic and non-adjustable.
Yes. Premium spirits and wines are served on board at all times, at no extra charge and with no package to buy. Your suite bar is stocked to your preferences before you board. Few lines go that far, and it changes the arithmetic when you compare two fares.
All of them. There is no surcharge restaurant, no cover charge and no paid reservation. You eat where you want, when you want, with whom you want. On a ship this size that is a real difference from lines that keep their best tables behind a supplement.
Yes, and rarely to this extent: Wi-Fi is included, in unlimited-minute packages, over Starlink satellite. Coverage is better on the classic routes than at high latitudes, where no satellite link is constant, but there is no card to buy.
No, and that is about the only thing that is not. Shore excursions and the Ventures by Seabourn programme are charged separately. On an expedition voyage that is the item that can weigh most after the fare: ask for the list before you sail, not on board.
Holland America Line Limited, which has operated the Seabourn ships since 17 December 2024. Before that date the contract was with Holland America Line N.V. Both belong to Carnival Corporation. It matters mainly for knowing whom to address a claim to.
This is the least favourable part of the contract, and it should be known before signing. Injury or death goes to the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington at Seattle, or a King County court. Every other claim goes to binding arbitration in that same county, and the contract imposes a class-action waiver: you sue alone.

Yes, and the contract is explicit: the carrier may cancel the cruise or deviate from the route, ports and timetable, for any reason and without notice. The clause is standard in the industry, but it explains why an advertised call is never a guaranteed call.
It depends on the ship, and the information is uneven. The two expedition ships publish five wheelchair-accessible suites, two penthouse and three veranda. For the classic ships in the fleet, no figure is published at all. We ask at booking rather than putting an estimate forward.
No. She was sold to Mitsui Ocean Cruises, announced in March 2025, then chartered back to Seabourn so she could finish her last world cruise. She left the fleet in mid-May 2026, after fifteen years of service, and enters Japanese service as the Mitsui Ocean Sakura in September 2026.
Because the commercial calendar and the transaction calendar did not line up. Guests had booked a world cruise running well beyond the sale. The charter back made it possible to honour those bookings rather than cancel them.
The Seabourn Quest, the only one of the three sisters still with Seabourn: same yard, same dimensions, same suite count. The Odyssey, the eldest, took the same road to Japan two years earlier.
