Universal Islands of Adventure opened in 1999 with a different structure from its neighbour. No studio here. A central lagoon, and around it islands whose sets do not speak to each other at all. You cross a bridge and go from a comic-strip town into a prehistoric jungle with nothing to smooth the change. That is the design.

Hogsmeade, and the castle at the end of the village

The snow holds on the roofs even in Florida July. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey is inside the castle, and the queue passes through rooms worth the visit on their own. Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure heads into the Forbidden Forest and ranks among the most requested attractions on the resort. Flight of the Hippogriff is a first roller coaster for a lot of children. Hogsmeade station sits at the end of the village: it is the other end of the Hogwarts Express, which runs to Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida, and it takes a two-park ticket for the same day.

Jurassic Park and the VelociCoaster

The stone gate and the music are enough to quiet a teenager. Jurassic Park River Adventure ends in a drop that soaks the front row. Jurassic World VelociCoaster runs along the lagoon and launches its trains twice, and it counts among the most intense coasters in Florida. Raptor Encounter puts guests a few steps from a staged handling.

Marvel Super Hero Island

The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man has combined screen, motion and physical set since the park opened, and the illusion still holds. The Incredible Hulk Coaster launches through a green tube above the entrance. Doctor Doom’s Fearfall lasts only a few seconds, and they are the right ones.

Toon Lagoon, Skull Island and Seuss Landing

Toon Lagoon exists to get people wet. Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls and Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges manage it easily, and a change of clothes beats a poncho. Skull Island: Reign of Kong crosses the island by truck. Seuss Landing curves its buildings so nothing has a straight line, and it is where families with young children spend the most time.

How long to plan

A full day covers the seven islands provided you start with Hogsmeade or Jurassic Park. Families who want the VelociCoaster and the Forbidden Forest a second time usually end up adding a half day.

Express here

This is the second park covered by the Universal Express Unlimited included with the room at the three Premier hotels. A few attractions, Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure among them, do not take part in the Express program. Useful to know before planning the day.

Booking from Quebec

Our advisors book in Canadian dollars, with protections that apply here, and they check height restrictions with you before the family ends up standing at a gate. Planning is free of charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

Seven, counting Port of Entry at the gate. Then Marvel Super Hero Island, Toon Lagoon, Skull Island, Jurassic Park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade and Seuss Landing. Each island has its own set, with no transition into the next.
Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure and Jurassic World VelociCoaster trade first place. Both are best done early or late. Hagrid’s does not take part in the Universal Express program, which changes how you build the day.
Yes, and Seuss Landing is built for them. Flight of the Hippogriff is often a first roller coaster, and Toon Lagoon has water play. Several attractions carry a minimum height: your advisor can go through that list with you before you leave.
For Toon Lagoon, yes. Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls and the Popeye barges soak riders properly, and Florida humidity does not dry fast. Lockers are available near the attractions.
Yes, and you have to if you want the Hogwarts Express, which requires a ticket giving access to both parks on the same day. That said, each park fills a full day easily when the calendar allows.
