One hundred and ninety people, one dining room
That is the figure that matters to someone travelling alone, and it appears in no brochure. On a 5,000-guest ocean ship you can cross an entire week without speaking to anyone. On 190 berths with a single dining room, a single lounge and a sun deck, it becomes close to impossible.

Hervör is a warrior of the sagas who goes alone to the island where her father is buried, wakes his ghost and demands the sword Tyrfing. The dead man begs her to give it up: the blade is cursed and kills a man every time it is drawn. She insists, takes it, and the curse works itself out on her descendants.
