No, not since May 2024. The ship left Port Canaveral for New Orleans, taking over from Carnival Glory, and stays there through at least April 2028. This is the detail people miss most often: they book a flight to Orlando for a ship that leaves from Louisiana. Departures are on Sundays, from Port NOLA.

Its space ratio of 37 to 1 is the most generous of the four ships in this group: at normal occupancy Liberty feels noticeably less tight than Carnival Sunrise or Carnival Radiance.

The spring 2025 dry dock gave the ship the WaterWorks aqua park with slides, a top-deck mini golf course, the Heroes Tribute Bar & Lounge honouring military members, a completely rebuilt Cloud9 Spa with sauna and steam rooms, an expanded casino, the Dreams Studio photography venue and the Carnival Adventures excursion desk. Accessibility routes were improved as well.
Yes. In June 2025 a labour strike at the Navantia shipyard in Cádiz delayed work on Carnival Liberty. Carnival pulled the ship out of the yard and cancelled the July 6, 2025 departure, later seeking compensation from the shipyard. The ship re-entered service in New Orleans on July 14, 2025. It is resolved, but it shows why cancellation insurance earns its cost.
Yes, through April 2028 according to the published schedule. Better still: from May 2027, Carnival Dream joins her at Port NOLA, bringing Carnival to two ships in New Orleans. Liberty keeps the week-long formats while Dream takes the short 4- and 5-day runs to Mexico. Two different products, two different crowds, one port.

No, despite the homeport. Louisiana may have a French heritage, but everything on board runs in English: announcements, shows, menus, the mobile app and front-line staff. Passengers come from the southern United States. What you do gain is a pre-cruise stay in a city where French heritage is everywhere. Functional English is enough on board.
Through Louis Armstrong New Orleans airport, with one connection from Montréal-Trudeau. Allow about thirty minutes by road to the Port NOLA terminal downtown. Because the ship sails on Sunday, arrive Saturday at the latest: a missed Sunday-morning connection means missing the departure, and catching up at the first port of call on your own is difficult.
A valid Canadian passport. The American rule allowing a birth certificate on a closed-loop cruise applies to U.S. citizens, not Canadians. Since you enter the United States by air to reach New Orleans anyway, the passport is mandatory. Check that it stays valid for the whole trip and keep it with you, never in checked baggage.
