Frequently Asked Questions
At the pier built in 2021 on North Bimini by the Resorts World complex. It takes only one ship at a time, a rare luxury in the Bahamas, and you walk straight ashore with no tender.
Free shuttles run every ten to fifteen minutes to the resort facilities. Many passengers prefer a golf cart, the archipelago's principal means of transport: it rents near the pier and needs no paperwork to drive.
Alice Town and its conch salad shacks, the Dolphin House, Radio Beach, or a boat trip to the Bimini Road and the Sapona wreck. The resort beach club remains the option with no logistics.
About three kilometres south of the landing. Golf cart or shuttle gets you there; walking is possible but exposed to full sun.
In the 1930s the writer crossed the Gulf Stream from Florida to chase giant tuna and marlin in these waters; the islands later fed the pages of Islands in the Stream. He stayed at the Compleat Angler, a hotel since lost to fire.
A mosaic house begun in 1993 by local historian and poet Ashley Saunders: shells, tiles, sea-polished glass and found objects cover every square centimetre. The creator often guides the visit himself, between fishing stories and the genealogy of the island's leading families.
A line of oddly regular limestone blocks a few metres below the surface, attributed by some since the 1960s to the lost city of Atlantis. Geologists lean toward a natural formation; mask and snorkel are all you need to see it.
A concrete freighter driven aground by a hurricane in 1926, still half emerging from the shallows. Its broken hull acts as a giant aquarium for tropical fish, and mask and snorkel are enough to explore it.
The Bahamian dollar, at par with the US dollar which is accepted everywhere, and English. Keep small bills for the conch shacks and golf cart rentals.
Yes. Radio Beach, the resort beach club with its pools and loungers, and trips to see the rays and nurse sharks that live year-round in the shallows will easily fill a day.
