Riu Flamingos, formerly the Riu Jalisco, on the Riviera Nayarit

Riu Flamingos has been the new name of the Riu Jalisco since May 1, 2026. RIU's all-inclusive resort faces the Pacific on Flamingos beach, north of Puerto Vallarta on Banderas Bay. A fully renovated resort

RIU redid all 820 rooms, including 120 brand-new rooms, in a bright, contemporary style. The new name highlights this transformation and ties the resort to the Flamingos area, where the chain also renovated the Riu Vallarta in 2019 and the Riu Palace Pacifico in 2023.

The rooms

The renovation added large family rooms that sleep up to six, a rare asset for big families or grandparents travelling with their grandchildren. Standard rooms look out over the gardens or the sea depending on the category.

Dining and drinks

The 24-hour all-inclusive plan includes a buffet and themed restaurants, including Mexican, Italian and Asian. The renovation added American Country, serving American classics, and the Candy Ice Cream Parlor, designed for kids. The resort has seven bars.

Pools and facilities

Six pools surround the resort, including one with a swim-up bar and two children's pools with slides. Kids have the RIU Land club, adults a 24-hour gym and RIU Fit classes, and RIU Party nights liven up some evenings.

The Riu Vallarta, right next door, also welcomes families. Couples looking for quiet should consider the Riu Palace Pacifico, adults-only since its renovation.
