Frequently Asked Questions
The resort is closed for renovation. RIU lists a December 2026 reopening on its official page, and no stay can be booked there until then. Its two Mahoe Bay neighbours, the Riu Montego Bay and the Riu Reggae, both adults-only and all-inclusive, remain open throughout the work.
Yes. RIU presents it as an adults-only resort. For a family stay in the Montego Bay area, the Riu Palace Aquarelle, opened in 2024 in Trelawny, welcomes children with family suites, the RIU Land kids' club and a water park. Your advisor confirms the minimum age when you book.
The easiest option is to stay on the same beach. The Riu Montego Bay and the Riu Reggae share Mahoe Bay with the Palace, are adults-only and offer 24-hour all-inclusive service. The Riu Reggae stands out with three infinity pools. An advisor can also compare other adults-only resorts in Montego Bay for your dates.
Yes, as soon as the dates are released for sale by tour operators. An advisor checks the reopening date confirmed by RIU, explains what happens if the work runs late and offers an option on the same beach if needed. Call us at 1 866 628-6241 to be among the first guests.
Some online resellers update their inventory late and still show rooms during the closure. A booking made that way may be cancelled or moved. Before paying, have availability checked by an advisor licensed in Quebec, who works with tour operators and follows RIU's announcements.
RIU reopened the Riu Palace Jamaica on November 24, 2025, after Hurricane Melissa in October 2025, then closed it again for renovation. Its reopening is announced for December 2026. RIU's other Jamaican resorts, including the Riu Montego Bay and the Riu Reggae on the same beach, have resumed operations.
