Starfish St. Lucia has closed

Starfish St. Lucia no longer welcomes travellers. The property on Reduit Beach, in Rodney Bay, has ceased operating and the site is set to make way for a new hotel project.

We keep this page online for one reason: several booking platforms still show the resort as available. A reservation made there cannot be honoured on arrival.

What happened to Starfish St. Lucia

The resort held one of the oldest addresses on Reduit Beach. The building dated from the late nineteen sixties and had carried several names over the decades. One hundred and forty rooms, an all-inclusive format, a beach a great many Quebecers have known.

Saint Lucia's Tourism Minister, Ernest Hilaire, confirmed publicly that the building would be taken down and that the neighbouring resort would carry on operating on the same beach. The Starfish website has been pulled and the inventory is no longer being fed.

A page turns, and the area remains one of the finest on the island. Reduit Beach has lost none of its sand or its sunsets.

Why the resort still shows as bookable

Large booking platforms sometimes take months to remove a closed property. The listing lives on in their systems, the photos stay online, and the form accepts dates.

The traveller finds out at the check-in desk or, worse, in front of a construction fence. Recourse exists, but it gets argued from abroad, in another language, on a holiday already under way.

Staying on Reduit Beach

The same beach, the same sunset, a few minutes' walk away.

Mystique St Lucia by Royalton is Starfish's immediate neighbour and it continues to operate. It is the closest thing to what you were looking for, on the same sand.

Bay Gardens Beach Resort and Spa also sits on the Reduit waterfront, all-inclusive or room-only depending on the season. Its two sister addresses, Bay Gardens Hotel and Bay Gardens Inn, stand in Rodney Bay village, steps from the restaurants and the marina, with a shuttle to the beach.

For something more independent, Harmony Suites looks over the marina and Coco Palm sits in the heart of the village, in the gardens.

Elsewhere in Saint Lucia

The island crosses in a day and every coast has its own character.

To the north, around Pigeon Island and Cap Estate, Sandals Grande St Lucian holds the causeway between two bodies of water, while Royalton Saint Lucia and its adult section, Hideaway at Royalton, open onto Smugglers Cove. BodyHoliday built its name on wellness, Windjammer Landing on its hillside villas, and The Landings on suites with kitchens and private moorings. Cap Maison and Calabash Cove play the intimacy card, and Harbor Club the marina one.

To the south, near the international airport, Coconut Bay Beach Resort and Spa holds both a family side and a quiet side, and Serenity at Coconut Bay keeps its private-pool villas for adults.

And over by Soufrière, facing the Pitons, Anse Chastanet and Jade Mountain look down on the sea, Sugar Beach slips in between the two peaks, Stolen Time holds Malabar beach, and Zoetry Marigot Bay hides in the most sheltered bay on the island.
