Is there a dining plan?

No. Aulani offers no dining plan. Every meal is paid for individually, at a restaurant or a counter.

That differs from what guests know of all-inclusive resorts in the south, and it changes how the budget is built. Your advisor can help estimate it based on your group and how often you plan to eat off property.

Table service

'AMA 'AMA is the waterfront table, open to the lagoon. It is the sunset dinner, and a reservation is strongly advised.

Makahiki is the buffet, and where the character breakfast is served. Book it early.

Two table-service restaurants is not many for a resort this size. That is precisely why reservations matter here.

Quick service

Ulu Café is the main quick-service spot, open morning to evening. Mama's Snack Stop covers the poolside, Papalua Shave Ice serves Hawaiian shave ice, and Little Opihi's and Lava Shack round out the offering around the water.

This is what most guests actually use, because a family in swimsuits does not change clothes three times a day.

The bars

The 'Ōlelo Room is the lobby lounge, and it has a feature worth knowing: everything in it is labelled in Hawaiian and the staff speak the language. It is one of the few places on property where the culture is practised rather than illustrated.

Off the Hook is the evening lounge, and the Wailana Pool Bar serves the adults-only pool.

Cooking in a villa, the overlooked option

One-, two- and three-bedroom villas have a full kitchen. The deluxe studio has a kitchenette.

For a family staying a week, a grocery run on arrival and breakfast in the unit changes the whole relationship with on-property dining. Kapolei, a few minutes away, has everything needed.

Gas grills are also available to guests beside Hālāwai Lawn.

Booking, and when

Book dinners alongside the room, and the character breakfast first. The resort's two tables fill, and a week without reservations is a week at the counter.

A villa with a kitchen changes the food budget entirely, and that choice belongs to the accommodation page. The children’s program also frees up a few evenings for two. Everything else is described on the main Aulani page.
