What it actually solves

It answers the two days nobody plans: arrival day, when you land late afternoon and buying a park ticket for three hours makes no sense, and departure day, when the room is gone and the flight leaves at night. Either way you eat, shop and pass the time without paying admission.

Eating after the parks close

District restaurants keep later hours than the parks. It is often the only table still open when you come out of a Halloween night or an evening show. The range runs from quick counters to full-service dining, and the busiest tables take reservations in advance.

Shops, bowling and live music

The shops here are larger and the queues shorter than inside the parks, which makes this the sensible place for the trip home. Splitsville offers bowling lanes with a full kitchen, and an outdoor stage carries concerts and seasonal events.

With young children

The district walks end to end with no queues and no height requirements. During the day and early evening it suits families well. It turns more adult late at night, particularly on weekends.
