The original park holds more attractions than any single Florida park, on a fraction of the acreage. That density is the whole character of the place: you walk less and ride more.

The ones that exist nowhere else

Matterhorn Bobsleds has run down the mountain at the centre of the park since 1959. Indiana Jones Adventure has never had a Florida equivalent. Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage puts you in an actual submarine. Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride and Pinocchio’s Daring Journey survive here after disappearing elsewhere. For a family that has done Florida twice, these are the reason to make this trip.

The classics, in their first form

Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, « it’s a small world », Peter Pan’s Flight, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Space Mountain in its Hyperspace Mountain form, Star Tours and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run in the Star Wars area.

Add the Disneyland Railroad circling the park, the monorail, the Mark Twain Riverboat and Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes, outdoor attractions Florida has largely retired.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure replaced Splash Mountain

As in Florida, Splash Mountain has been retired and replaced by Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, drawn from The Princess and the Frog. Any guide still listing Splash Mountain in California is out of date.

Seasonal overlays worth timing a trip around

Two attractions transform completely: Haunted Mansion Holiday, rethemed to The Nightmare Before Christmas from autumn into January, and « it’s a small world » Holiday. They are among the most cited reasons to come in November or December rather than summer. The ride closes for a few weeks while the overlay is installed.
