Escapade à Toronto et Niagara (Toronto and Niagara Getaway) is a short 3-day, 2-night Club Med stay in Ontario, arriving and departing from Toronto. On day one, a transfer takes you from the airport to your hotel. On day two, a guided walking tour covers downtown and the historic districts: the CN Tower, St. Lawrence Market, the Distillery District, Yonge-Dundas Square and Old City Hall. On day three, the morning is free before the transfer to the airport. Niagara Falls can be added as an optional excursion. Two hotels are offered: Le Germain Hotel Toronto Mercer, 4 stars, in the Comfort option, or the Fairmont Royal York, 5 stars, in the Superior Comfort option. How do the three days in Toronto unfold?

The pace is relaxed. On day one, someone meets you at the airport and drives you to the hotel for two nights. Day two is devoted to the guided walking tour. On day three, the morning is yours before the return transfer. In between, Toronto offers plenty to fill your evenings: a game, a musical, dinner in the Distillery District.

What do you discover on the guided tour?

The tour starts downtown and links Toronto's great landmarks. At the foot of the CN Tower, you take the measure of the city. At St. Lawrence Market, the counters of cheese, fish and peameal bacon sandwiches tell the story of foodie Toronto. The Distillery District, with its cobbled lanes and Victorian brick buildings, is home to galleries and cafés. You also pass through Yonge-Dundas Square, the city's busiest crossroads, and by Old City Hall and its clock tower. The tour is led by an English-speaking local guide, a great way to experience Toronto in its everyday language, and the guide's tip is included.

How can you see Niagara Falls during the getaway?

The falls are an option: you add them to the booking, most often during the free time on day three or by extending the stay by one night. Your advisor books the excursion ahead so everything is settled before you leave. If you dream of seeing them from above, the Canada Grandeur Nature tour includes a helicopter flight over the falls.

In the Comfort option, Le Germain Hotel Toronto Mercer, 4 stars, is a boutique hotel in the Entertainment District, handy for walking out in the evening. In the Superior Comfort option, the Fairmont Royal York, 5 stars, is the city's grand historic address, facing Union Station. The upgrade is booked at extra cost, and it makes all the difference for an anniversary or a gift.

What is included, and what do you pay separately?

The package includes transfers between the airport and the hotel both ways, two nights with breakfast, the day-two guided tour and the guide's tip. Added as needed are transport to Toronto, the upgrade, excursions, including Niagara, drinks, personal expenses and insurance. For guests from abroad, the eTA is also paid separately.

The included transfers leave from Toronto's airport, which you reach by plane from Montreal or Quebec City. The train is another pleasant option from Montreal; in that case, mention it to your advisor when booking so your arrival at the hotel can be arranged.
