Club Med Kiroro Grand at a glance

Club Med Kiroro Grand is an all-inclusive ski resort in Akaigawa, western Hokkaido, Japan, in the mountains between Sapporo and Otaru. Designed for families, it welcomes children from age 2 and gives access to 23 km of alpine runs, 9 lifts and 6 freeride zones, between 520 and 1,180 metres, on abundant, light powder. For winter 2026-2027, it opens on November 28 and closes on May 4, the longest season of the Hokkaido resorts. The package includes the room, meals, the bar, the lift pass and group ski lessons from age 4. Its traditional onsen with an outdoor bath and its four restaurants make it a complete resort, next door to Kiroro Peak.

When is Club Med Kiroro Grand open?

The 2026-2027 season runs from November 28 to May 4. The resort therefore opens before the holidays and stays open well after Easter, on March 28, 2027. January and February are the months of the deepest powder. April is a pleasant surprise: the base is still thick, the days are long and mild, and it is a good time for a family who prefers to skip the busiest weeks.

How do you get to Kiroro from Quebec?

You fly from Montreal, with a connection, to New Chitose airport, which serves Sapporo. The transfer to Kiroro takes about 2 hours in winter, or 1 hour 30 minutes by private transfer. Starting in December 2026, a non-stop flight will also link Vancouver and Sapporo, which simplifies the journey. Your advisor books flights and transfers with the package. What is the Kiroro ski area like?

The ski area has 23 km of alpine runs, 9 lifts and 6 freeride zones, between 520 and 1,180 metres. Storms from the Sea of Japan drop light powder on Kiroro, often refreshed overnight. Families enjoy the wide runs on the lower mountain, and strong skiers head off to explore the tree runs in the freeride zones.

Are ski lessons included for children?

Yes. Group ski lessons are included from age 4, and snowboarding from age 8, for all levels, in English or Japanese. Guests 11 and over can also go on guided snow hikes. The lift pass is included. Ski, boot and helmet rental is extra: your advisor books it ahead so it is ready when you arrive.

Is Club Med Kiroro Grand made for families?

That is its calling. Petit Club Med welcomes children aged 2 and 3, at extra cost and by reservation. Mini Club Med takes ages 4 to 10, then a club brings together ages 11 to 17, included in the package. The heated indoor pool has an adult area and a children's area, which makes late afternoons easy. For an adults-focused stay, the neighbouring Club Med Kiroro Peak, Exclusive Collection, welcomes guests 12 and over.

What is the food like at Club Med Kiroro Grand?

The main restaurant, the Yoichi, serves a buffet ranging from Japanese cuisine to international dishes. Three specialty restaurants complete the offer: The Ebisu, The Kaen and The Ogon. For bars, the Yotei hosts après-ski and the evening, and The Kakurega, an intimate speakeasy-style bar, serves an included menu from 4 to 8 p.m., then a premium menu until midnight. Which room should you choose at Club Med Kiroro Grand?

The resort has 266 rooms. The Superior, 36 to 40 m², sleeps up to four: the natural choice for a family with two children. The Deluxe, 50 to 65 m², gives a couple or three people plenty of space. Suites range from 60 to 139 m² and sleep up to five, ideal for a family who wants a real living room after skiing.

Is there an onsen at Club Med Kiroro Grand?

Yes, and it is one of the great pleasures of the stay. The traditional onsen is freely accessible, with a rotenburo, the outdoor bath where you slip into hot water while snow falls on your shoulders. The Club Med Spa also offers treatments on request, at extra cost. After a day at -10 °C, a hot soak before dinner puts everyone in a good mood.

What is there to do around Kiroro?

Otaru, a port town known for its canal lined with stone warehouses and its glass-blowing workshops, can be visited in half a day. Yoichi and its whisky distillery are in the same region, and Sapporo, with its markets and ramen bars, makes a great stopover before or after the ski week. The resort offers excursions on request.

Kiroro Grand or another Hokkaido resort?

In winter, Japan is 14 hours ahead of Quebec. You often arrive the day after you leave. To help children adjust gently, many of our clients spend two nights in Sapporo or Tokyo before heading up to Kiroro, fresh for the first morning on the slopes.

Yes, Otaru makes a good rest day. You stroll along the canal, step into the glass workshops and music box shops, and taste sushi from the port. The resort offers excursions on request, and your advisor can also arrange the outing.
