Club Med Benin at a glance

Club Med Benin, also known as the Avlékété Club Med Village, is Club Med's upcoming all-inclusive resort in West Africa. It is taking shape in the municipality of Ouidah, on Benin's Atlantic coast, on a 25-hectare estate set between the ocean, the lagoon and a future golf course. Less than 4 hectares will be built on, leaving the rest to gardens, beach and nature. The resort will offer 336 rooms, including 30 suites, two restaurants, four pools, a spa, tennis, padel and water sports. Designed for families and active couples, it will be open year-round. Construction was approved in November 2025, and Club Med plans a phased opening starting in 2027.

When will Club Med Benin open?

The Government of Benin approved the construction phase on November 12, 2025, with a 24-month build schedule. Club Med plans a phased delivery starting in 2027. The exact opening date and the start of sales in Canada will be announced by Club Med, and we will update this page at that time. Where is the resort, and why Ouidah?

Ouidah is a coastal town steeped in history, at the heart of West Africa's memory. The resort is being built at Avlékété, a strip of land between the Atlantic Ocean and the lagoon, lined with coconut palms. Fishermen still haul in their nets on the beach at dawn, and lagoon birds liven up the end of the day. This setting, both wild and lived in, is what Club Med chose for its first resort in Benin.

What will the resort look like?

The project is built on restraint: of its 25 hectares, less than 4 will be developed, leaving plenty of room for the landscape. Club Med is aiming for BREEAM and Green Globe environmental certifications. The resort is being developed by Benin's national heritage and tourism agency (ANPT), in partnership with Club Med.

  • Accommodation: 336 rooms, including 30 suites.
  • Dining: two restaurants.
  • Swimming: four pools, plus the beach and the lagoon.
  • Relaxation: a spa by an international brand.
  • Sports: tennis, padel and water sports.

Who is Club Med Benin for?

The resort is designed for families and for couples who like to stay active. Guests will come for the ocean, the sports and the comfort of an all-inclusive package, and also to discover a country that few Quebec travellers have explored yet. Open year-round, it will be a great warm-weather option during our winter, with the cultural richness of West Africa close at hand.

What documents will a Canadian need?

To enter Benin, Canadian travellers need a visa, available online as an e-visa. Your passport must be valid for at least six months after your departure date. Proof of yellow fever vaccination is required on arrival, so book a travel health clinic appointment a few weeks before you leave. Requirements may change before the opening, and your advisor checks them with you before every trip.

What is there to discover around Ouidah?

Ouidah is best explored on foot, between its museums, its squares and the Slave Route, which leads to the Door of No Return facing the ocean. It is a powerful place of remembrance that moves adults and teenagers alike. The town is also the cradle of Vodun, celebrated every January with large festivals full of dance, drums and costumes. Further afield, the lake village of Ganvié, built on stilts in the middle of Lake Nokoué, makes for an unforgettable pirogue outing. Club Med will announce its excursion program at opening.

Until it opens, where can you go with Club Med in Africa?

The continent already has some beautiful resorts. In Senegal, Club Med Cap Skirring offers beach, golf and the gentle pace of Casamance, on the same Atlantic coast. In the Indian Ocean, La Pointe aux Canonniers in Mauritius wins families over with its lagoon.
