Frequently Asked Questions
Club Med operates three resorts in South America, all in Brazil: Rio das Pedras, on the Costa Verde, Trancoso, in Bahia State, and Lake Paradise, near São Paulo. A fourth, Gramado, in Rio Grande do Sul, is announced for June 2027 by the trade press. All are rated Premium, with included clubs for ages 4 to 17.
Yes, and it is an excellent idea for a two-week stay. You can pair Trancoso and Rio das Pedras, with a domestic flight and a few nights in Rio de Janeiro in between, or Lake Paradise and Rio das Pedras, via São Paulo. Your advisor books the flights, transfers and resorts in a single file.
Lake Paradise, 30 km from São Paulo-Guarulhos airport, or about 45 minutes by road. Trancoso is 1 hour 15 minutes from Porto Seguro, and Rio das Pedras about 2 hours 30 minutes from Rio de Janeiro's airports. For a first trip to Brazil with young children, that short transfer is a real comfort.
Yes, all three resorts are open in early March 2027, during spring break. It is the end of the southern summer: the sea is warm at Rio das Pedras and Trancoso, and the countryside is lush at Lake Paradise. The trip with a connection takes a full day, so a full week on site, or ten days, is ideal.
Yes, Canadian citizens need an electronic visa to enter Brazil as tourists, applied for online before departure. Your passport must be valid for the whole stay. Your advisor explains the process and timelines when you book, so everything is ready well before your flight.
Rio das Pedras includes water skiing and wakeboarding in its package, with group lessons, on a bay of the Costa Verde. Lake Paradise focuses on sailing, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding on its lake, also included. Trancoso offers the flying trapeze and yoga in the Taípe River.
Yes, all three resorts welcome children of all ages. Rio das Pedras and Trancoso offer Petit Club Med from age 2, at extra cost, and Lake Paradise starts its clubs at age 4. Little ones stay with their parents, who enjoy the pools, the beach or the lake at their own pace.
Portuguese is spoken in Brazil. At Club Med resorts, the teams welcome an international clientele, which makes daily exchanges easy. A few words of Portuguese, such as "obrigado" or "obrigada" to say thank you, are always appreciated on excursions to Paraty, Trancoso's Quadrado or São Paulo.
Today, it is La Réserve, the Exclusive Collection area of Club Med Rio das Pedras, with its suites, infinity pool and concierge service. In 2027, the future Club Med Gramado, in the Serra Gaúcha, will also be rated Exclusive Collection. Your advisor will let you know as soon as its bookings open.
At least a week on site, ideally ten days. The trip from Quebec, with a connection, takes a full day each way. Many of our travellers add two or three nights in Rio de Janeiro or São Paulo to discover the city. Your advisor helps you find the right balance between beach and discovery.
