Magna Marbella, on the Costa del Sol, is the only European non-ski resort open from early February: it closes only from November 20, 2026 to February 6, 2027, after a short break from November 1 to 6. The others reopen between late March and late May. For real warmth in mid-winter, the resorts in Morocco and Tunisia, or those in the Caribbean, are better choices. Only from age 8. Cefalù, in Sicily, is the first Exclusive Collection resort in the Mediterranean and is designed for couples and families with older children. Families with young children who dream of the Mediterranean will love Palmiye, Bodrum Palmiye or Da Balaia, which offer clubs from 4 months.
The Palmiye resort, near Antalya in Turkey, has two areas: the Villagio, with bungalows in the gardens, and a more intimate Hotel section by the beach, with Superior rooms and suites. Some sites list it as a separate property called Club Med Palmiye Hotel, but it is the same resort, with the same facilities and the same kids' clubs.
Club Med presents it first as a resort for couples and adults, in an Art Deco manor surrounded by an 18-hole golf course, with a sauna and steam room. Children will not find the club programme of the large family resorts there. A family wanting France with children should choose Opio en Provence or La Palmyre Atlantique, which have clubs for every age from 4 months.
Opio en Provence has a hilly nine-hole course on its olive-grove estate, and Vittel Ermitage an 18-hole course. Access conditions, lessons and green fees vary by resort and season. Your advisor confirms what is included in your package and what is paid separately, to avoid surprises at the first tee.
Allow about three and a quarter hours by road from Athens airport, or about an hour and three quarters from Volos airport, which has fewer flights. It is the longest transfer of the European resorts. The resort is worth it for its water sports and nineteen hectares of greenery on the Aegean, but book it for a stay of at least a week, never for a few days.
The resort already existed, but it reopened on April 11, 2021 after a complete transformation. It now has 418 rooms, a Zen Space and a spa, on the Atlantic, in a forest of pines and dunes near Royan. It welcomes families with clubs from 4 months. It is reached via Royan station, about thirty minutes away, or La Rochelle airport.
Yes, and it is a great way to make the most of the crossing. The three French resorts lend themselves particularly well to this: Opio is a short Paris-Nice flight away, La Palmyre is reached by train to Royan, and Vittel by train towards Lorraine. Bodrum Palmiye welcomes families, with clubs for children of all ages, including Baby Club Med from 4 months. The resort occupies an Aegean peninsula where less than 20% of the land is built on, about an hour from Bodrum airport. It closes from October 9, 2026 to May 15, 2027: it is a high-summer resort, best booked for June, July or August.
The winter before. European resorts are only open for a few months, and July and August weeks go fast, especially for families needing Baby Club Med or family rooms.
