How do the first days unfold, from Nairobi to Amboseli?

On the first day, you settle in at the Sarova Stanley, a historic hotel in downtown Nairobi. On the second day, 210 km and about 4 hours of road lead to Amboseli National Park, and the first safari begins on arrival, with Kilimanjaro as a backdrop when the sky clears. The third day is devoted entirely to the park, home to some forty mammal species and about 400 bird species. Above all, you come across large herds of elephants crossing the marshes. The day ends with a sundowner facing Kilimanjaro.

And the rest of the safari, from Elementeita to the Masai Mara?

The fourth day is a long day on the road: 335 km and 7 to 8 hours to reach Lake Elementeita, in the Rift Valley, passing back through Nairobi. You arrive for a sunset safari on the shore of a salt lake where pink flamingos gather. On the fifth day, 235 km and 5 to 7 hours of track lead to the Masai Mara, the reserve of the Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino. On the sixth day, you go on safari morning and afternoon, then dine at the boma, around the fire, under the stars. On the seventh day, a small plane flies the group back to Nairobi.

Which animals can you see on this safari?

In Amboseli, elephants are the stars, along with zebras, wildebeest and the hippos of the marshes, under Kilimanjaro's gaze. At Lake Elementeita, birds take over: pink flamingos, pelicans and waders in great numbers. In the Masai Mara, the open savannah lends itself to spotting big cats, and it is where you have the best chance of completing the Big Five. The driver-trackers read the signs and share sightings by radio, which multiplies the great sightings: every drive holds its own surprise.

Which lodges do you stay in during the safari?

In Nairobi, the Sarova Stanley welcomes the group on arrival. In Amboseli, Tawi Lodge faces Kilimanjaro, close to the park. By the lake, Lake Elementeita Serena Camp puts travellers in comfortable tents. In the Masai Mara, Sarova Mara Game Camp combines the comfort of a tented camp with closeness to the wildlife.
