The Escapade Bangkok et rivière Kwai (Bangkok and River Kwai Getaway) is a short guided stay of 4 days and 3 nights in Thailand, starting in Bangkok and ending at Suvarnabhumi airport. On day two, you visit Wat Pho and its 45-metre reclining Buddha, then the Grand Palace. How do the four days of the getaway unfold?

On day one, you are welcomed in Bangkok and the rest of the day is yours: a nap, a stroll by the river, a first taste of street food. Day two is devoted to the capital, with Wat Pho, home to a 45-metre reclining Buddha, then the Grand Palace and its golden roofs. On day three, you leave the city for Kanchanaburi, about 3 hours by road, and spend the night there. On day four, you stop at the Damnoen Saduak floating market before the transfer to Suvarnabhumi airport.

What do you see in Kanchanaburi and on the River Kwai?

This is the day that gives the trip its meaning. You walk across the bridge on the River Kwai, then pause at the war cemetery, where the prisoners of war who built the Thailand-Burma railway are buried. The Thailand-Burma Railway Centre and the JEATH museum tell this story through objects, photos and testimonies. Then you board the train for about an hour on the old line, which follows the Kwai Noi gorges and their green walls.

When is the best time to visit Bangkok and the River Kwai?

Thailand can be visited all year. From November to February, the air is drier and milder, which makes walking visits pleasant. March and April are hot and very sunny. From June to October, showers come mostly late in the day and the Kanchanaburi countryside is a vivid green. The published programme is for winter 2026: your advisor tells you which departures are offered for the season you have in mind.
