Club Med Opio en Provence at a glance

Club Med Opio en Provence is a Premium all-inclusive resort with 429 rooms, set in the hills behind the French Riviera, between Grasse and Châteauneuf-de-Grasse, 30 minutes from Nice airport. It spreads over 100 hectares of countryside, with the largest olive grove in the region, cypress trees, lavender and the song of cicadas. Its strengths: a hilly 9-hole golf course on site, a circus school and clubs for children from 4 months. The 2027 season runs from April 10 to November 6. The package includes accommodation, meals, the bar and snacks, most sports and the clubs for ages 4 to 17.

When is Club Med Opio en Provence open?

The 2026 season continues until October 30, 2026, then the resort reopens on April 10, 2027 for a long season ending on November 6, 2027. That covers the Provençal spring, the whole summer, the Quebec construction holiday and Thanksgiving. May and June are lovely for golf and walking, the gardens are in bloom and the back-country roads are quiet. July and August belong to families, and September brings golden light back to the olive grove, with the sea still warm 20 km away.

How do you get to the resort from Quebec?

You fly from Montreal or Quebec City to Nice, with or without a connection depending on the season. From Nice Côte d'Azur airport, the resort is 25 km away, about 30 minutes by road. If you arrive by train after a few days in Paris, Cannes station is 18 km away, about 50 minutes. Your advisor books the flights and the transfer with the package, and can add a few nights in Nice or Paris before or after your stay.

What is the resort like?

The resort sits on a large estate planted with century-old olive trees. Club Med presses its own olive oil, which you taste at the table, and pétanque is played in the shade of the cypresses. The Provençal-toned buildings blend into the greenery, and you walk a lot, between the main pool, the sports grounds and the zen pool, set in the middle of the olive grove for those who want to read in peace. The resort holds Green Globe certification. In the evening, the theatre and the bar come alive, and dinners stretch out on the terraces.

Can you play golf at Club Med Opio?

Yes, and it is one of the main reasons to go. The hilly 9-hole course is on site, open from dawn, and both group lessons and free access to the course are included in the package. More advanced golfers book, at extra cost, packages of 2 to 5 rounds on the courses of the French Riviera, or a golf academy to work on their swing during the week. To compare with a golf-focused trip elsewhere, see our all-inclusive golf trips.

Is the resort good for families?

Absolutely, from the very youngest age. Baby Club Med welcomes babies from 4 to 23 months and Petit Club Med children aged 2 and 3, at extra cost and on reservation. Mini Club Med+ takes over from 4 to 10, followed by the Teens club from 11 to 17, both included in the package. The star attraction for kids is the circus school: trapeze, juggling and acrobatics. Parents, meanwhile, enjoy a round of golf while the young ones are busy.

Which activities are included in the package?

Beyond golf and the circus, you play tennis on courts looking out over the hilltop village of Châteauneuf-de-Grasse, try padel, join a fitness class or head out on the wellness trail that winds through the estate. Pétanque under the cypresses draws players in the late afternoon. The Club Med Spa by Payot, at extra cost, offers treatments to round off a day of golf or walking.

Which room should you choose at Club Med Opio en Provence?

The Superior room, 23 to 24 m², sleeps one or two, with a balcony or garden access. The Junior Family room, 24 m², sleeps up to three. For a family of four or five, the connecting Junior Family and Superior combination offers 48 m² in total. The resort also has suites and rooms adapted for guests with reduced mobility. Tell your advisor whether you prefer garden level for the children or a balcony facing the hills: they will pass the request on to the resort.

What is there to do around the resort?

Opio is an ideal base for discovering the French Riviera and its hinterland. Grasse, the perfume capital, is close by, with its perfumeries and workshops where you create your own fragrance. Saint-Paul-de-Vence is 16 km away, Cannes 20 km and Nice 37 km. Excursions also go to Antibes, Èze and Villefranche, Tourrettes-sur-Loup and Vence, the lavender fields of Valensole in season, or into the gorges for a river hike. The village of Opio itself is 3 km away.

Opio or Vittel: which golf resort in France?

Both appeal to golfers, in very different settings. Opio offers Provençal sunshine, a 9-hole course on site, the sea 20 km away and clubs for every age. Club Med Vittel Golf Ermitage, in the Vosges forest, features an Art Deco manor and an 18-hole course, with an atmosphere geared more to couples and adults. For the whole country, see also our France travel page.

What is the food like at the resort?

Meals are included, from breakfast to dinner, with buffets that give pride of place to southern produce: Provençal flavours and the estate's own olive oil. The bar and snacks are included all day, and evenings carry on out on the terrace while the air stays mild. Some wines and champagnes on the menu are available at extra cost.

Frequently Asked Questions

The 2027 season starts on April 10 and runs until November 6. Opio is therefore the ideal resort for spring, summer and fall. For a spring break trip to Europe, your advisor points you to the Alpine ski resorts or to a sun resort open in March, then keeps Opio in mind for the construction holiday.
Yes, the resort welcomes children of all ages. Baby Club Med cares for little ones from 4 to 23 months, at extra cost and on reservation, with limited spots. In July and August, book those spots together with your stay.
Yes, especially in May, June or September, when the olive grove is quiet. The zen pool, treatments at the Club Med Spa by Payot and dinners on the terrace give the stay a romantic feel. Add a day in Saint-Paul-de-Vence or Èze, and a few nights in Nice or Paris to round out the trip.
The hills around Grasse enjoy a Mediterranean climate. April and May are mild and in bloom, June to August are hot and sunny, and September and October stay pleasant for golf and excursions. Spring and fall evenings are cooler in the hills: pack a light sweater for dinners on the terrace.
You can enjoy the resort fully without one, since everything is included on site. Organized excursions to Grasse, Cannes, Nice or Saint-Paul-de-Vence leave directly from the resort. A rental car still gives you plenty of freedom to explore the hilltop villages at your own pace. Your advisor can add one to the package.
A valid Canadian passport is enough for a tourist stay in France. Check its expiry date before booking and look up the European entry requirements in force at the time of departure. Your AquaTerra advisor sends you the up-to-date instructions and suggests suitable travel insurance.
The resort offers rooms adapted for guests with reduced mobility. The estate is large and hilly: mention your needs to your advisor when booking, so they can request a room close to the main areas and check the services the resort provides.
Yes, it is one of the most popular excursions. In Grasse, a few minutes from the resort, a creation workshop guides you in composing your own fragrance, which you take home. The excursion is available at extra cost and can be booked on site or in advance with your advisor.
Yes, the resort is Green Globe certified, a label that recognizes sustainable management of tourism properties. Less than 10% of the estate is built up, and the olive grove is tended using organic practices: it produces the homemade olive oil served at the table. Nature lovers also enjoy the wellness trail that loops around the estate.
The atmosphere is relaxed and elegant. By day, sports or golf wear; in the evening, you change for dinner, as you would for a good restaurant on the Riviera. A slightly dressier outfit and good walking shoes for the olive grove paths will do nicely.
