Club Med Lijiang is a year-round all-inclusive resort in northwest Yunnan, China, at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Its 292 rooms, all with a balcony and mountain views, reinterpret traditional Naxi architecture on a 9-hectare estate. Nearby are the Old Town of Lijiang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the ancient villages of Shuhe and Baisha. When is Club Med Lijiang open?

The resort is open all year, in summer and winter seasons. At more than 2,000 metres above sea level, the sun is bright and the air is dry and cool. Spring and fall bring luminous days and clear skies over the peaks. Summer brings greenery and flowers to the valleys. In winter, snow caps Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and the indoor water park comes into its own. Each season has its charm, and your advisor helps you choose based on what you want to see.

How do you get to Club Med Lijiang from Quebec?

You fly from Montreal, with a connection, usually through a major Chinese city such as Shanghai or Beijing, then via Kunming or another city linked to Lijiang Sanyi International Airport. The transfer to the resort takes about 55 minutes. Lijiang railway station, served by train from Kunming, is about 40 minutes away. Your advisor arranges flights, connections and the transfer so everything flows.

Do you need a visa to travel to China?

According to the Government of Canada, since February 17, 2026, Canadians have been able to enter China visa-free for stays of up to 30 days, for tourism, business, family visits or transit, a measure scheduled to run until December 31, 2026. For a 2027 departure or a longer stay, your advisor confirms the entry requirements in force at the time of booking.

What makes Club Med Lijiang unique?

It is a resort that introduces you to a culture. The Naxi, the people of the region, have their own pictographic script, Dongba, and the resort offers an introduction included in the package. You also join a Naxi cultural walk, an exploration of Baisha, a stroll through the old town and a workshop on Yunnan tea culture. At night, the cosmic exploration activity has you looking up at a very clear sky. The resort has been Green Globe certified since 2024, and its architecture has been praised for the place it gives to Naxi heritage.

Which activities are included in the package?

Guided hikes, including the Sacred Trees hike, are at the heart of the stay. Add climbing, archery, the flying trapeze, yoga, tennis, pickleball and cooking classes. The 1,500 m² indoor water park, with its slides, lets you swim all year, even when snow falls on the peaks. The Golden Moments program also offers activities designed for older travellers.

What is there to see around Lijiang?

The excursion to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is the big outing of the stay, at extra cost. Tiger Leaping Gorge, where the Jinsha River rushes between towering walls, impresses hikers. Yuhu village, the stargazing camp and the "Lijiang Eternal Love" show round out the program, all at extra cost and on reservation. The Old Town of Lijiang, with its canals and cobbled lanes, is best visited in the evening, when the lanterns light up.

What is the food like at Club Med Lijiang?

Le Baisha, the main restaurant, serves a buffet that blends world flavours and Chinese cuisine. Square, the Club Gourmet space, showcases Naxi cuisine in a gourmet lounge with a wine cellar. For aperitifs and evenings, you can choose between the Dayan Bar, the Blue Moon Bar and the Square wine cellar. Wild mushrooms, grilled goat cheese and Yunnan teas are among the region's discoveries.

Which room should you choose at Club Med Lijiang?

Every room has a balcony with mountain views. The 40 m² Superior room sleeps one to three. The Deluxe, 40 to 65 m², is the most flexible: depending on the layout, it sleeps up to five, making it an ideal option for larger families. The 70 m² Suite sleeps up to four with more room to relax. Your advisor checks the right layout based on the ages and number of children.

Is the resort good for families?

Yes, it welcomes children of all ages. Baby Club Med cares for little ones under 2 and Petit Club Med for ages 2 and 3, on reservation. Mini Club Med welcomes ages 4 to 10, then Club Med Teens ages 11 to 17, in two groups. The nature discovery camp and the water park are big hits. Since the resort is at altitude, a quiet first day on arrival is recommended, especially with young children.

How do you fit Lijiang into a bigger trip to Asia?

Lijiang pairs with a few days in Shanghai or Beijing, and very well with Club Med Guilin, linked by domestic flight: the mountains of Yunnan on one side, the karst hills of the Li River on the other.
