Disney Believe: maiden voyage on 18 December 2027 from Fort Lauderdale, with bookings opening 19 October 2026

The Disney Believe is the ninth ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet and the fourth of the Wish class. Disney revealed her contents on 7 October 2026: the maiden voyage sails on 18 December 2027 from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, a five-night Bahamas cruise. The inaugural season runs from December 2027 to May 2028. Bookings open to all travellers on 19 October 2026. The ship is under construction at Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany, where steel was first cut on 8 August 2025.

What sets the Disney Believe apart from her three sisters

The Grand Hall draws on "Moana". A bronze statue of Moana, with Pua and Heihei, welcomes guests at the foot of the staircase, surrounded by Disney's Polynesian Village Resort craft finishes. On the bow, Tinker Bell appears in hand-painted filigree, framed by the silhouettes of Peter, Wendy and Captain Hook. On the stern, Woody and Buzz Lightyear write the ship's name with oversized yellow pencils.

Disney sums up the ship's theme in two words, promise and possibility, and the choice of stories follows: "Encanto", "Frozen", "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs", "Moana" and "The Little Mermaid". Where the Disney Treasure tells adventure and the Disney Destiny tells heroes and villains, this one tells the characters who dare to believe in themselves.

The restaurants and venues, now named

The Walt Disney Theatre will stage Disney Encanto, the world's first stage adaptation of the Walt Disney Animation Studios film, following Mirabel, the one member of a magical family without a gift. Three rotational dining rooms share the evenings: Oaken's Table: A Frozen Family Feast, a theatrical meal served beneath grass roofs and overhanging birch branches in the world of "Frozen"; Worlds of Marvel, where "Marvel Celebration of Heroes: Groot Remix" follows Groot on his quest to throw the ultimate surprise party for Rocket; and 1923, devoted to the history of Disney animation.

Among the bars and cafés, Sea Notes is a piano bar inspired by Ariel's undersea grotto in "The Little Mermaid", built around a pearlescent piano. The Haunted Mansion Parlor serves its deliciously ghoulish spirits. Inside Out: Joyful Sweets reworks the sweet shop guests loved on the Disney Wish, now drawn from "Inside Out 2". Alongside them sit the Wishing Well, a storybook lounge from "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs", plus Café Kakamora and Big Hero Sips.

The two adults-only restaurants require a reservation and carry an extra charge: Palo Steakhouse, in a space inspired by Cogsworth, and Enchanté, inspired by Lumière, with cuisine created by Arnaud Lallement, a three-Michelin-star chef. The AquaMouse water attraction returns with four different shows rather than one.

Where she sails, and the flight that goes with it

The homeport is Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale. From Montréal-Trudeau the non-stop flight takes about three and a half hours, which places the Disney Believe among the most accessible Disney ships for a traveller from Quebec, alongside the Disney Destiny.

The maiden voyage of 18 December 2027 runs five nights in the Bahamas, calling at Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, Disney Castaway Cay, Nassau, with one day at sea. From 23 December 2027, three patterns alternate through May 2028: four nights in the Bahamas with two calls, five nights in the Bahamas with both private destinations and Nassau, and five nights in the Western Caribbean with Cozumel, Mexico and two days at sea. Every departure leaves from Fort Lauderdale. Disney will publish later itineraries in due course.

Which stateroom to book, and which to leave for someone else

The ship holds roughly 1,250 staterooms across fifteen guest decks, with a maximum capacity of about 4,000 guests. Seven staterooms in ten have a verandah, a high proportion for a ship this size. Oceanview staterooms come next, then inside staterooms, then the Concierge staterooms and suites, which open onto a reserved lounge and a private sun deck.

Deluxe Family staterooms sleep up to five guests, and nearly all of them keep the Wish-class split bathroom: a sink and toilet on one side, the shower and a second sink on the other. For a family getting ready at the same hour, that is the difference between a relaxed cruise and a queue outside a door. Inside staterooms remain the best value in usable space for guests who plan to spend their days outdoors, provided they accept sleeping without daylight.

Three ships to compare with the Disney Believe

The Disney Destiny is her closest sister and already sails from Fort Lauderdale, making her the truest preview of the Believe, fourteen months early. The Disney Treasure sails from Port Canaveral, about an hour from the parks of Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, for guests who want to pair parks with a cruise. Who the Disney Believe does not suit

A family that wants to sail before December 2027 should choose a ship already in service, and the Disney Destiny is the closest match. The maiden voyage falls in the week before Christmas, which means school days missed or time off negotiated well in advance. Booking conditions for that first departure differ from those of an ordinary Disney cruise, particularly on cancellation and date changes, so have your travel advisor walk you through them before you pay anything.

One caution applies to any ship still in the yard. The Disney Adventure saw her entry into service slip from 15 December 2025 to 10 March 2026. Disney generally holds its dates, a delay remains possible, and it is far easier to absorb when you have allowed for it before booking non-refundable flights.
