    Replaced in the Galápagos by a ship built for the archipelago

    Silver Galapagos served the archipelago from 2013. It no longer appears in the fleet the line publishes and our inventory shows zero departure dates. It was replaced by a ship designed specifically for that destination, delivered in 2020.

    That replacement says something useful about the Galápagos. The new ship holds its position without dropping anchor, makes its own fresh water and flies the Ecuadorian flag. These are requirements tied to the archipelago rather than refinements of comfort, and an adapted hull does not meet them as well as one drawn for the purpose.

    We have not established the exact date it left the fleet or where it went, so we stay with what is verified.

    Silver Origin is the ship that serves the Galápagos for this line today. Silver Endeavour is the fleet's polar vessel. Silver Cloud and Silver Wind are converted hulls working elsewhere.
