Several specialist listings still publish 99,500, a rounded figure applied to all three Pinnacle ships without distinction: it is wrong for all three.
Because those are two different measures. Double occupancy, 2,650, means two people per stateroom and is the reference for space and crew ratios. Maximum capacity, about 3,200, adds third and fourth berths. The 2026 dry dock added five large ocean-view rooms sleeping four, which nudges that maximum up without changing double occupancy.
She is the eldest of the class and the only one of the three fresh out of dry dock: in early 2026 she gained five large ocean-view rooms on deck 1, 22 refurbished Vista Suites with sofa beds, an enlarged casino and two quieter music rooms after the central staircase was removed. Her seafood brasserie carries the Sel de Mer name, and her Music Walk includes a whisky bar, Notes, that her younger sisters do not have in this configuration. She is also the ship where Holland America invented The Retreat, the reserved-lounger sun terrace.
From April to September 2026 she runs the 7-day Alaska Inside Passage from Vancouver. In October she operates Circle Hawaii voyages of 17 to 28 days out of Vancouver. From October 2026 through April 2027 she is based in San Diego for the Mexican Riviera, Baja and the Sea of Cortez, on formats of 7 to 14 days.
The pattern repeats: Alaska from Vancouver April to September 2027, an 11-day Vancouver–San Diego repositioning on 19 October 2027, a 7-day California coast run on 13 November, then Hawaii and Mexico from San Diego into spring 2028. For a Montreal client, Vancouver is a year-round nonstop, while San Diego needs a connection through Toronto, Vancouver or a U.S. hub. On a San Diego departure, add a hotel night before embarkation.
Start with a verandah room on the hull bulges of decks 5 and 6: the terrace is markedly larger for the same category code. A family of four fits into the five enlarged ocean-view rooms built on deck 1 during the refit. A solo traveller has twelve purpose-built single rooms of 12 to 16 m² with no surcharge. And for a week in Alaska an interior remains a sensible buy, because the glaciers are watched from the open terraces.
For a fee: Pinnacle Grill and Sel de Mer on deck 2, Tamarind with its twelve-seat Morimoto by Sea counter opened in April 2025, and Canaletto inside the Lido. Included: the Dining Room, Lido Market, Grand Dutch Café, New York Deli & Pizza and Dive-In. Four rooms follow one another on deck 2: two grand pianos at Billboard Onboard, a blues band at B.B. King's Blues Club, the Rolling Stone room, then the Notes whisky bar. World Stage projects onto a 270-degree wraparound screen, and The Retreat sits on deck 12 near the Crow's Nest.
Kitchen consistency varies between services, desserts in particular fading as the week goes on. Forward deck 1 still hears the Music Walk, even though the dry dock cut the bleed. The aft Sea View pool presents itself as adults-only without the rule being enforced. And the twelve single staterooms are ocean-view rooms without a balcony, thin provision on a 2,650-guest ship.
Four things: a shore excursion credit, the Signature beverage package, specialty dining nights and a Surf Wi-Fi package. The number of dining nights follows the length, from one on cruises of 4 to 9 days to three on the longest, Grand Voyages excluded. On Koningsdam they are used at Pinnacle Grill, Tamarind, Canaletto or Sel de Mer. On a 7-day Alaska that means a single night: book it at embarkation, because Tamarind goes fast.
A set amount per person per day is posted to the onboard account, children included, at a higher rate for Neptune and Pinnacle suites. You can prepay it on the booking before departure, which simplifies the end of the cruise. On a 7-day Alaska from Vancouver it appears directly on the final statement, in U.S. dollars. Beverage service charges are separate unless a package covers them.
The Signature package allows up to fifteen alcoholic drinks a day, with a per-drink value ceiling, service charges included, and both adults in the stateroom must take it. On a 7-day Alaska where days are spent ashore in Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan, it pays back more slowly than people expect. On a 17-day Circle Hawaii with heavy sea-day content, the maths flips decisively. The Notes whisky bar stocks pours above the ceiling, billed as the difference.
The ship uses Starlink satellite connectivity, with a Surf package for browsing, email and messaging and a Premium package for video and streaming. In Alaska, coverage is good through the Inside Passage and becomes patchy deep in some inlets and close to the glaciers. On the Hawaii crossings it holds steady in the open Pacific. The Surf package is included in Have It All.
Yes, and Alaska is one of the line's best family cruises. Club HAL sits on deck 10 and takes three- to twelve-year-olds in two groups, with a separate teen space. Middles can earn the U.S. National Park Service Junior Ranger badge during the Glacier Bay day. The deck 11 sports area offers basketball, pickleball and soccer, useful when coastal rain keeps everyone on board.
It is the loyalty programme, in five tiers from Star Mariner to Five-Star Mariner. Credits accrue per cruise day and through onboard spending, with double days in a suite, and enrolment is automatic after a first completed cruise. On Koningsdam the higher tiers mostly ease access to Pinnacle Grill and Tamarind in peak Alaska season, when 2,650 guests chase the same tables. Laundry benefits also matter on a 17-day Circle Hawaii.
The Alaska Inside Passage is sheltered by islands and stays very calm, which is the argument to give an anxious client. The harder stretches are the Hawaii crossing, the autumn run down the Pacific coast and the Gulf of California in strong wind. Choose a midship stateroom on decks 5, 6 or 7 rather than forward or high up. The stabilisers on a 299.50 m hull handle the rest.
