The last hull of the series

AmaLucia entered service in 2021. After it, the line changed scale: the ships that followed went to other continents, the Mekong, the Nile, Colombia, and to a European hull twice as wide. It therefore closes a series of fifteen 135-metre ships built over eleven years.

That is not an abandonment of the model. It is a sign that the format had given what it could on the Rhine and the Danube, and that growth moved elsewhere. A traveller boarding today boards the most refined version of a design worked on for more than a decade.

Danube, Main, Rhine and Moselle

Departures from Amsterdam and Basel, across the four waterways. Our count on 26 August 2026 found 120 departure dates across three years.

A hundred and thirty-five metres, 156 guests, 78 cabins. The twin balcony equips the upper categories: a sliding glass wall and a real outdoor balcony in the same cabin.

The other ships in the fleet

AmaSiena preceded it by a year. AmaViola and AmaStella share its configuration, and AmaMora works up the Moselle on part of its routes.

The line's formula

Meals included, wine and beer at meals included, soft drinks included, a daily cocktail included, guided excursions included at every port, Wi-Fi included, bicycles aboard the European ships.

Every outing carries an effort level announced in advance: gentle, regular or active. It is one of the better things this line does, because it lets two travellers in the same couple choose different paces on the same morning without one imposing their stride on the other.

Two exclusions to know: gratuities, which stay on your account everywhere, and air travel, unless it goes through the line's air programme. The line suggests a gratuity amount per destination; it does not add it to your bill automatically.

The everyday aboard

Adult clientele, with no youth programme and no childcare. Every traveller under eighteen shares a cabin with a responsible adult. The minimum age varies by destination and tightens on the African journeys.

A lift serves the main decks. The sun deck is reached by stair, which matters since that is where the river is best seen from. Boarding gangways vary with the quay, and some calls require crossing a neighbouring ship. Flag any mobility constraint when you book.

Booking here rather than elsewhere

Voyages AquaTerra is licensed by Quebec's Office de la protection du consommateur. Money paid goes through a trust account and the Compensation Fund for Customers of Travel Agents applies in the situations the law provides. That framework does not follow a booking made elsewhere.

A river cruise is built on logistics as much as on the choice of ship: flight, connection, a night on the ground, transfer to the pier. That is the part where a file comes apart when nobody is watching it.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. It is a sign that the format had given what it could on the Rhine and the Danube. A traveller boarding today boards the most refined version of the design.
The Danube, the Main, the Rhine and the Moselle, departing from Amsterdam and Basel. The port of departure changes the geography of the route and the countries crossed.
Our inventory measured 120 departure dates on 26 August 2026, across 2026, 2027 and 2028, departing from Amsterdam and Basel.
A hundred and fifty-six guests in 78 cabins, the second-wave configuration of the line's 135-metre series, with seven cabins fewer than the first wave.
In 2021. It closes a series of fifteen 135-metre ships built over eleven years by the line for the rivers of central Europe.
A hundred and thirty-five metres, the standard length of the European series. It fits every lock on the network, including those of the Main-Danube canal.
The line suggests an amount, varying by destination, and does not charge it. Your advisor will tell you the order of magnitude in force for the route you are considering.
You, or we for you, or the line's air programme. It is not included in the cruise fare, and it is one of only two notable exclusions in the formula.
At least one per port, with a choice of levels. The next day's programme is handed out aboard the evening before, which leaves time to decide by how you feel.
Nothing is organised for one. A teenager curious about history and landscape may enjoy the trip; one looking for people their own age will be bored, and it is better known in advance.
By a lift linking the main decks, and by stairs for the sun deck. On a river ship the distances stay short, which compensates in part.
Yes, free to use during port calls, including electrically assisted ones. On the Rhine and the Danube, cycle paths follow the bank almost without a break.
Yes, in the upper cabins: a sliding glass wall and a real outdoor balcony in the same cabin. The lower categories open onto a fixed window.
It steps in where the Travel Agents Act provides, notably a supplier's failure. The cover has defined limits and does not replace travel insurance.
