The ship the withdrawal announcement did not name

The Avalon Creativity does not appear in the public announcement of October 2018, which names only three hulls. She nonetheless left the fleet in the same move, around 2019, when the line shifted to a European fleet composed entirely of suite ships. The exact date of her exit is established by no reliable source, and we do not invent one.

The hull became the MS Monarch Princess for an American tour operator, then the A-ROSA CLEA in 2024. Her registration number is identical under both names, which makes the chain sound. The programme announced by her operator: Rhine in 2024, Seine in 2025, Garonne and Gironde from 2026. That last point has not been rechecked at source and we present it as announced, not as confirmed.

    What she was

One hundred and ten metres, Den Breejen yard in the Netherlands, year 2009, one hundred and thirty-eight travellers in seventy staterooms, four decks. A generation before the sliding glass wall became standard.

A body of German writing of good quality reverses this ship and the Avalon Affinity in attributing their present names. The hull numbers say the opposite, and we follow the numbers. But as long as neither the original line nor the current operator publishes the former names, documentary doubt remains and gets stated.

The active ships in the fleet

The Avalon Artistry II holds the Bordeaux region for the line. The Avalon Poetry II holds the Rhone and the Saone. The Avalon Alegria is the Douro ship. The Avalon Tapestry II holds the Seine.

    Arranging this trip from Quebec

The flight to Europe or to the destination is not included in the cruise fare. From Montreal the connection is direct to several cities in season, and routed through one connection the rest of the year or for the far destinations.

Plan one night ahead before embarkation, two if the time difference is large. That margin is used exactly once, but on that day it saves the trip. Keep the return day free as well.

We build the complete file, flight, cruise, hotels, transfers, insurance, under the protection of Quebec's compensation fund for travel agency customers. One call is enough to check what the season really allows.

    Frequently Asked Questions

No. The ship left the line's fleet around 2019 and no longer appears in it. The hull still sails, under another name and for another operator.
That is not established. The public announcement of October 2018 names only three ships, and this one is not among them. A third-party source suggests 2019, which is plausible without being confirmed.
She became the MS Monarch Princess for an American tour operator, then the A-ROSA CLEA in 2024. The registration number is identical under both names, which makes the chain sound.
Her operator announced the Rhine in 2024, the Seine in 2025, then the Garonne and Gironde from 2026. That last point has not been rechecked at source: we present it as announced, not confirmed.
Yes. A body of German writing reverses this ship and the Avalon Affinity in attributing their present names. The hull numbers say the opposite, and we follow the numbers.
Because it moved to a European fleet composed entirely of suite ships. Hulls with fewer than four fifths of their accommodation in suites were taken out of service.
One hundred and ten metres, Den Breejen yard in the Netherlands, year 2009, one hundred and thirty-eight travellers in seventy staterooms, four decks. A generation before the sliding glass wall became standard.
We do not know. No primary source documents the legal nature of the transfer. We write that she changed operator and stop there.
Because the name keeps being searched. A traveller who kept a brochure or a memory deserves an explanation, not a page that cannot be found.
The Avalon Artistry II, a 110-metre hull from 2013 refurbished in 2025, assigned to the Garonne, the Gironde and the Dordogne for the line.
No. The current operator has its own inclusions, its onboard languages and its range of cabins. The hull has not changed; everything else has.
Because a hull number is a regulatory identifier, attached to the ship and verifiable in several independent registers. A press release gets copied from article to article, mistakes included.
She sailed the brand's European rivers before the shift to a suite-only fleet. Public archives do not detail her final assignment, and we do not reconstruct it.
Often yes, with another ship or another brand. Write to us describing the trip you had in mind and we will check what really exists, without selling you an approximation.
It applies in the situations set out in Quebec's travel agents legislation, notably a supplier's insolvency. The cover has defined limits and in no way replaces travel insurance.
