Three concordant regulatory identifiers on a single hull

The Avalon Affinity left the line's fleet between 12 October and 4 November 2018. The trade announcement of the time names her explicitly, alongside two other ships, and gives the reason: the brand was moving to a European fleet made up entirely of suite ships, and this 2009 hull fell short of the threshold.

She became the MS Monarch Governess for an American tour operator, then the A-ROSA ALEA in 2024, under German flag, home port Cologne, on the Rhine with runs onto the Main and the Moselle. One hundred and ten metres by eleven metres forty-five, sixty-nine staterooms including four junior suites, one hundred and thirty-eight travellers.

Why this chain is sound, and where doubt remains

This is the best-established file in the whole fleet. Three independent registers give the same hull number and the same radio identifier to the ship under her three successive names. One hull, three commercial flags, three concordant numbers.

The doubt lies elsewhere. A body of German writing of good quality reverses the two ships sold to the same operator, giving the Avalon Creativity the name that in fact belongs to this one. The hull numbers settle it in favour of our version, but neither the original line nor the current operator publishes the former names. We say so rather than settle it in their place.

A second reservation: the legal nature of the transfer, sale or charter, is documented nowhere. So we never write that the line sold this ship.

The active ships in the fleet

The Avalon Tranquility II holds the Rhine and the Moselle for the line. The Avalon Imagery II covers four rivers. The Avalon View and the Avalon Panorama are 135-metre hulls on the Rhine.

    From Quebec

None of these itineraries begins here. A transatlantic flight is required and it is not included in the cruise fare. From Montreal several embarkation cities are reachable without a connection in season; elsewhere, expect one connection in Europe.

Arriving a day early is not a luxury. A delayed bag or a shifted flight can be absorbed by one spare day, and cannot be absorbed at all if you land on the morning of departure. Plan the return day too: leaving the ship happens earlier than people expect.

Our advisors assemble the flight, the cruise, the hotel nights and the insurance in a single file, and you remain covered by Quebec's compensation fund for travel agency customers. Write to us and we will look at what the season allows.

    Frequently Asked Questions

No. The ship left the line's fleet in autumn 2018 and no longer appears in it. The hull still sails, but under another name and for another operator.
She became the MS Monarch Governess for an American tour operator, then the A-ROSA ALEA in 2024, under German flag, home port Cologne, on the Rhine with runs onto the Main and the Moselle.
By three independent registers giving the same hull number and the same radio identifier to the ship under her three successive names. It is the best-documented file in this fleet.
Yes, and it deserves naming. A body of German writing reverses the two ships that passed to the same operator. The hull numbers settle it in favour of our version, but neither company publishes the former names.
Because the brand moved to a European fleet composed entirely of suite ships. A trade announcement of October 2018 names her among the three hulls withdrawn for that reason.
The legal nature of the transfer is documented nowhere, neither by the original line nor by the current operator. We write that she changed operator, never that she was sold.
One hundred and ten metres by eleven metres forty-five, Den Breejen yard in the Netherlands, year 2009, one hundred and thirty-eight travellers. Under her present flag she has sixty-nine staterooms including four junior suites.
Under her current operator, a fitness area and a hot tub on the sun deck, with service in German and English. The hull is the same; the product is different.
Because the name keeps being searched by travellers who sailed aboard. Explaining what happened is better than showing them a page that cannot be found.
The Avalon Tranquility II, a 110-metre hull from 2015 covering the Danube, the Rhine, the Moselle, the Main and the Dutch and Belgian waterways for the line.
No. Each brand has its inclusions, its guiding and its range of cabins. The hull is identical, the trip is not, and neither are the languages spoken aboard.
Three are named in the public announcement of October and November 2018. A fourth followed, without its exit date being established by a reliable source.
It is normal industry practice: an operator taking over a hull does not advertise its commercial past. That is exactly why regulatory registers are worth more than press releases.
Tell us what you were looking for: a region, a date, a size of ship. Depending on the answer we point toward an active ship of the same line or another brand serving the same ground.
