SH Vega: 152 guests, PC 5 hull, and no departure on our calendar

SH Vega is the second of the three ships ordered to relaunch Swan Hellenic. Our calendar carries none of her departures at the moment. That is measured on our side, it says nothing about what the line sells, and your advisor can look.

    The ship

Delivered in 2022 by the Helsinki shipyard, 10,600 gross tons, one hundred and thirteen metres fifty by twenty-four thirty. Nine decks, seven of them open to guests and three with cabins. One hundred and fifty-two guests in seventy-six suites, one hundred and seventeen crew. Aboard: a sauna, an open-deck jacuzzi, an infinity pool, a gym, a spa, a main restaurant, a panoramic observation lounge and a library.

PC 5, and what that means

The hull is rated PC 5 under the Polar Code. A point many pages get backwards: in that code, PC 1 is the strongest class and PC 7 the weakest. SH Vega is therefore more strengthened than SH Diana, which is larger and rated PC 6. Size and ice strength do not run in the same direction here.

What this page will not say

What the fare includes. Swan Hellenic does not publish that list on its ship pages: the site points to the final price shown during booking. The text that lived here claimed the fare "generally" includes meals, wines and the main excursions. We have not measured it, and "generally" reads as a promise. Ask your advisor for the written list.

    The other two ships

SH Minerva is her sister hull, delivered a year earlier; she sat idle for three years in Uruguay because of sanctions aimed at her lessor, and returned to service in November 2025. SH Diana is the third unit, larger. If you want a French-speaking line on the same waters, Ponant has worked the polar regions for a long time.

    Frequently Asked Questions

In 2022, by the Helsinki shipyard. She is the second of the three.
Ten thousand six hundred gross tons, one hundred and thirteen metres fifty by twenty-four thirty, nine decks of which seven are open to guests and three carry cabins.
One hundred and fifty-two, in seventy-six suites, with one hundred and seventeen crew.
PC 5 under the Polar Code, the same as SH Minerva.
More. SH Diana is rated PC 6, therefore less strengthened, although she is larger. In the Polar Code, PC 1 is the strongest class and PC 7 the weakest. A ship rated PC 5 is therefore more strengthened than one rated PC 6. Several sources present the scale the wrong way round, and that changes the reading when comparing two ships in the same fleet.
A sauna, an open-deck jacuzzi, an infinity pool, a gym, a spa, a main restaurant, a panoramic observation lounge and a library.
Yes, SH Minerva, delivered a year earlier and of the same dimensions.
None on our calendar at the moment. That is measured on our side, and it says nothing about what the line sells: your advisor can look.
A British expedition house whose voyages go back to the 1950s. The brand was relaunched with an order for three ships at the Helsinki shipyard: SH Minerva in 2021, SH Vega in 2022 and SH Diana in 2023.
Three: SH Minerva, SH Vega and SH Diana.
We will not assert it. Swan Hellenic does not publish that list on its ship pages: the site points to the final price shown during booking. The text that lived on this page said the fare "generally" includes meals, wines and the main excursions; nothing measures that, and the word reads as a promise. Ask your advisor for the written list.
SH Minerva sat idle at Fray Bentos, in Uruguay, from the spring of 2022 to July 2025. It was not a breakdown: her hull was held by an Irish subsidiary of GTLK, a Russian financial group, and sanctions left the line in a dead end. She returned to service in November 2025.
In Antarctica, in the Arctic, and on announced Asia-Pacific programmes.
An expedition, with what that implies: landings by inflatable, hours set by ice and weather rather than by a programme, and outings cancelled for reasons of nature. If you need a fixed schedule, this is not the right trip.
