MSC World America: year-round Miami, and the first World Class ship based in North America

The MSC World America measures 216,638 gross tons on MSC's own ship page, 333 m by 47 m, with 2,614 cabins. Maritime databases credit her with 22 decks, 16 open to guests. She sails with a maximum of 6,762 guests, the figure MSC publishes, and roughly 5,240 at double occupancy, that second number coming from industry databases rather than the line, plus 2,138 crew. The second ship of the World class, she was delivered by Chantiers de l'Atlantique on 27 March 2025, named in Miami on 9 April by Drew Barrymore, and sailed her first revenue cruise on 12 April 2025. Her homeport is PortMiami, year-round.

The only ship of her class a Quebecer reaches in a three-and-a-half-hour flight

Air Canada and American Airlines fly Montreal-Trudeau to Miami nonstop in about three and a half hours, and the MSC terminal at PortMiami sits some twenty minutes from the airport. During storm season, a hotel night before embarkation remains the ordinary precaution. For winter 2026-2027 MSC confirms two seven-night loops: Western Caribbean to Roatán, Costa Maya and Cozumel, and Eastern Caribbean to Puerto Plata and San Juan, both including Ocean Cay. Miami is confirmed for summer 2028 as well, and no European season has been announced.

Ocean Cay: you walk off, no tender required

She berths alongside the pier at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, MSC's Bahamian island, which removes the tender queue and the swell-cancelled beach day. Seven beaches, a buffet and food trucks included in the fare, about ten bars, rentable cabanas and a Marine Conservation Center opened in April 2025. Yacht Club guests get their own sand at Ocean House. It is the most predictable day of the week, and often the one families remember.

Seven districts, an eleven-deck slide, and a ship that makes noise

She divides into seven districts: Family Aventura, Aqua Deck, Zen Area, World Galleria, The Terraces, Promenade and the MSC Yacht Club. World Galleria spans three decks and acts as the main street, Zen Area is aimed at adults, and Jaw Drop @ The Spiral corkscrews eleven decks down from The Harbour. Add the Cliffhanger swing out over the ocean, bumper cars and nineteen dining venues including the only Eataly at sea. Now the flaws, because reviewers have raised the same ones since 2025: loud dining rooms with too few sound-absorbing surfaces, tight cabin storage for a full week, congestion at the Aqua Deck and the World Galleria, and supplements on certain dishes inside restaurants sold on a flat cover charge. Cabins directly above or below a busy venue hear the evening.

LNG, the Yacht Club and how much French you will hear

She runs on liquefied natural gas, carries two 75 kW solid oxide fuel cells and connects to shore power in port. MSC frames LNG as a bridge toward bio and synthetic renewable LNG. Two caveats belong here: in December 2024 the UK advertising regulator had MSC withdraw advertising calling the technology clean, and the independent methane verification of May 2026 covered MSC World Europa and MSC Euribia only, so no measured figure exists for this ship. The MSC Yacht Club spreads 152 suites across seven decks with the Top Sail Lounge, a reserved restaurant, a private pool deck, butler service, the Premium Extra package and Ocean House access. Safety announcements run in five languages including French, but on Miami departures the everyday running of the ship happens mainly in English; MSC Cruises does publish its Canadian website and booking platform in French.

Two ships to weigh against her

MSC World Asia is the European twin, expected in December 2026 for the Western Mediterranean: same architecture, far more multilingual service, and a transatlantic flight to budget for. MSC Seaside comes from the previous generation, smaller and drawn for outdoor Caribbean living, for anyone who finds the World class simply too big.

Who should skip MSC World America

With close to nine thousand people aboard at full occupancy, crew included, this ship disappoints anyone who values quiet, cabin space and unhurried service. The popular districts fill, the public rooms echo, and the onboard account climbs quickly. A family looking for something to do from morning to night will be delighted. A couple hoping to read on a calm deck should book the MSC Yacht Club, or a smaller ship.

Frequently Asked Questions

MSC World America suits first-timers who want a lot of ship for their money. Sailing year-round from PortMiami since April 2025, it runs seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean loops that both include Ocean Cay. Expect a lively, loud vessel: reviewers consistently flag noise in the dining rooms and congestion around the Aqua Deck at peak hours.
MSC World America measures 216,638 gross tons, 333 metres long and 47 metres wide, with 2,614 cabins and 2,138 crew. MSC publishes a maximum guest figure of 6,762; the double-occupancy number of roughly 5,240 comes from maritime databases rather than from MSC itself. That gap explains why the ship feels far busier during school holidays.
Chantiers de l'Atlantique delivered MSC World America on 27 March 2025. Drew Barrymore named the ship in Miami on 9 April 2025, and the first revenue sailing departed on 12 April 2025. MSC World America therefore has more than a year of real passenger feedback behind it, unlike MSC World Asia and MSC World Atlantic.
MSC World America stays in Miami. For winter 2026-2027 MSC confirms two seven-night itineraries: Roatán, Costa Maya and Cozumel on the western route, Puerto Plata and San Juan on the eastern one, each including Ocean Cay. MSC has also confirmed PortMiami for summer 2028. No European season has been announced for this ship.
MSC World America docks alongside the pier at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, so guests walk straight off rather than tender. The Bahamian island offers seven beaches, a complimentary buffet and food trucks, about ten bars, rentable cabanas and a Marine Conservation Center that opened in April 2025. An LED lighthouse show runs twice nightly.
Jaw Drop @ The Spiral is the dry slide aboard MSC World America, corkscrewing eleven decks from The Harbour down to the World Promenade through a shark-jaw entrance. Riders stay fully dressed, which makes it an easy sea-day activity for teens. MSC World Asia receives a longer version, Tree of Life @ The Spiral, in December 2026.
MSC World America divides into Family Aventura, Aqua Deck, Zen Area, World Galleria, The Terraces, Promenade and the MSC Yacht Club. The three-deck World Galleria works as the ship's main street, Zen Area targets adults and Family Aventura holds The Harbour outdoor park. The layout spreads crowds around, though bottlenecks still form at dinner hour.
The MSC Yacht Club aboard MSC World America is the fleet's largest, with 152 suites across seven decks, a Top Sail Lounge, private restaurant, two-level sun deck and pool, butler service, the Premium Extra drinks package and Ocean House Beach access at Ocean Cay. It rewards guests who stay aboard. Port-heavy travellers rarely use enough of it.
Reviewers of MSC World America keep returning to the same points: hard surfaces that make dining venues loud, tight cabin storage for a full week, congestion in the pool areas and galleria, and specialty restaurants where a flat cover charge still carries supplements on certain dishes. Cabins directly above or below venues catch late-night noise.
MSC World America delivers safety announcements in five languages including French, and MSC Cruises Canada runs its website, brochure and booking platform in French. Everyday announcements and the daily programme on Miami departures are mainly English. Quebec travellers who want a genuinely francophone atmosphere find far more of it on MSC's European sailings.
MSC World America burns liquefied natural gas and carries two 75 kW solid oxide fuel cells, and MSC frames LNG as a bridge toward bio and synthetic renewable LNG. In December 2024 the UK advertising regulator had MSC withdraw advertising that called the technology clean. LNG cuts local air pollutants, while methane slip keeps its climate benefit contested.
MSC World America is the easiest World Class ship to reach from Quebec. Air Canada and American Airlines fly Montreal-Trudeau to Miami nonstop in roughly three and a half hours, and the MSC terminal at PortMiami sits about twenty minutes from the airport. A pre-cruise hotel night remains the sensible precaution during winter storm season.
MSC World America sells the Easy, Premium Extra, Alcohol-Free and Minors packages. Easy covers bars, buffets and main dining rooms, while Premium Extra adds premium labels and works in specialty restaurants and at Ocean Cay. MSC requires every adult in a cabin to buy the same package, and Premium Extra comes included with Yacht Club suites.
MSC Voyagers Club runs four tiers, Classic through Diamond, and MSC matches status from more than two dozen competing programmes, including Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Norwegian and hotel chains such as Marriott and Hilton. The request goes through an online form and usually clears within days. Only one programme can be matched, so submit the strongest one.
MSC World America disappoints travellers who prize quiet, generous cabin space and unhurried service. With close to 9,000 people aboard at full occupancy, public rooms get loud and the popular districts fill up. Anyone chasing a calmer week is better served by a smaller MSC ship, or by the Yacht Club if the budget allows.
